It all started with this dream I had about two years ago. I was approached by a stranger at a bus stop and after a few moments of thoughtless conversation the stranger asked “what is it that you seek?” As I p.a.u.s.e.d to think, a horn blows repeatedly and I slowly fade back into reality. The car horn was actually my alarm clock sounding and I was late for work! Although a few years have gone by since I first had the dream, the question still lingers in the back of my mind like old condiments in the refrigerator. What is it that I really want? In my adolescent thinking it was multiple women…, Young, old, skinny, fat or any color under the race rainbow. For me sex is a drug, but not just any drug. If it were paralleled to a drug it would be more along the lines of cocaine….. Top of the line, sophisticated, and everywhere. And with the right chemist and the right chemistry it can become as addictive as crack. You see it’s the moment when your brain secretes norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin which in turn stimulates movement, excitement, and feelings of pleasure. I’ve never tried cocaine but I’ve always been addicted. If you ask anyone who is addicted to a drug of any sort why they do it, they’ll probably say because reality sucks and it feels good! But sex is different! Physically it’s always the same, in annnndddd out, in annnndddd out; until the desired effect is reached. But if you’re like me you seek the mental aspect of this pleasuring sensation. Blinded by reality we as addicts do whatever it takes to capture this feeling. For some when the moon aligns with the sun just right and the stars illuminate the sky, the earth moves. For most of us we spend our entire lives in search of this moment. And to some no avail. For those of us who experience this awesome and unparalleled event we spend even more time searching for it again. Bottom line it’s the allure. It’s that moment in time when two perfect strangers grasp eye contact across a crowded market and spend the next 30 seconds eye fucking each other until they have passed and life continues without missing a beat. For this feeling we indulge ourselves in nonsense not only because it feels good but because it allows us to escape reality, which we all know sucks! It is the allure that allows us to post photos of our genitals and other miscellaneous body parts for millions to view “insisting our bait is strong!” So with that said and done we all know usually more is said than done! In my current relationship of two years I’ve been nothing but faithful thus far. A lot of looking but never dared to touch. It all seems to happen when the day is beautiful; you’re with the perfect person at a perfect restaurant and before you can order the perfect drink. You’re surrounded by Joey Greco and video cameras broadcasting your addiction to millions. But before I succumb to temptation I ask myself the question Adam must have asked Eve, Was it worth it? ARE YOU?
