This post was brought to mind due to a local news report on Halloween. Got me to thinking about people decorating. Over the past several years decorating inside and outside is not just for Christmas any more. Halloween was the first holiday to pick up the outside decorating craze. The decorations have moved in several ways. Extremely elaborate - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation Halloween version. Some have tried to be funny\political with diverse reactions. Here are a few I have heard about.
One family decorated their house so it looked like it was on fire. That has generated many 911 calls. Local FD taking in stride as they are a few blocks a way but still have to check it out when they get the call.
Another one I have seen reported is hanging of ICE agents in effigy. Skeletons hanging in the yard are normal Halloween decoration but using ICE is a new one. Seems to be a political statement that has caught the attention of Homeland Security.
One last one was where the family used the yard fence to set the theme of the decorating. Again it used skeletons dressed up as ICE agent and immigrants. The use of the fence comes into play with the immigrant skeletons posed going over the fence and the Ice skeletons posed as trying to capture them. Family didn't seemed to think it was political. They just thought it funny.

Reminds me of a friend, she does not celebrate Christmas, but come December her house both inside and outside is full of decorations ( Even has artificial snow with reindeer ) . Since she travels around the world , has decorations from all over the world. Her husband just keeps quiet says she is crazy , but lol. what can he do
We don't do much. Most of the people on this block don't do much. We have lived in areas, however, where some people went all out with decorations.
The first time I took note of decorating outside was when I saw where the inflatable snowman was repurposed by a company as 3 pumpkins stacked on each other.
