I KNOW IT IS WEIRD.
It's efficient. The abdomen is close to the nervous system, and having ears there keeps the head free for feeding, seeing and antenna-based sensing. And that is why Grasshopper's ears are located on their belly.
Do you have a skull but no spine? If you do you are a Hagfish because that is the only animal that does. lol Have a skull and no spine.
lol I was thinking of what a male snail is saying to a female snail when she is giving him a blow job... "Hey watch the teeth." Because she has 25,000 teeth and her mouth that is about the size of a pinhead. LOL
