Going Green for St. Paddy’s Day and HNW

Years ago I picked up a girl in a bar on Friday night ( aka “Singles Night” ) and took her home. ( Don’t judge! It was the 70s and that’s what we did back then. 🤣 ) Saturday ( aka “Date Night” ) was also St. Paddy’s Day, so we made plans to wear green to a local club that featured live music. The only green shirt I had was rather ill-fitting but I pressed on.

We were up dancing and when the song was done the lead singer called me over. Before the whole place he states “Folks, don’t you just hate it when you discover too late that your only green shirt really doesn’t fit every well?” After seeing my reaction he apologized and said he was just making a joke.

My date disappeared soon thereafter. She called me the next day wanting me to come to the motel that adjoined the bar and give her a ride home. Hard as it is to believe, I did so. I rode her a few more times after that before I decided we just weren’t a good match.

The more things change the more they stay the same. I still remember the occurrence, the “joke”, but not her name. And as you can see in the accompanying shot, my green shirts still don’t fit very well.
