I live near a treasure trove of good restaurants. I also like to visit local eateries when I’m traveling. The Wagyu burger place I visited on my birthday trip was so good!
We've read about all your eating adventures, the ones masquerading as trips.
I am sure they chose some fancy place for their article. I have a hard time choosing just one to be the best. I can pick one in each type of food, LOL.
Fried Chicken - Eischens or Railhead BBQ
Chicken Fried Steak - Del Rancho
Steak - Cattlemans
Ribs - Kens Steak n Ribs
I could go on all day
I've been to Cattlemans!
But the article cited another place, one that I at least had heard of - OKLAHOMA: Rock Cafe in Stroud.
I'm guessing the most famous place in MI is the Bavarian Inn.
Not according to this article - MICHIGAN: Hack-Ma-Tack Inn and Restaurant in Cheboygan
@CleavageFan4U We had a summer cottage near Cheboygan so I've heard of it. Never ate there and I don't know anyone who has. Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth is packed every weekend.
@superbjversion2 Can't tell ya. Just quoting the article.
I cheated and did a google search and what came up was Matt’s Bar, home of the Juicy Lucy (a cheeseburger with the melted cheese inside the burger). I guess it does frequently get mentioned in articles talking about things to do in the Twin Cities.
Another place that has become mildly famous recently is Owamni, a high end restaurant with an indigenous chef. He calls himself the Sioux Chef, get the pun? It won the James Beard award for best new restaurant in 2022.
Yup, you must have found the same article I cited. Or maybe Matt's Bar in Minneapolis is really that famous.
Sioux Chef - 😂
I've never been but Joe's is kinda known for being a place some of the Chiefs players like to go. I've had a few other of the famous kc BBQ places (on the Missouri side). I'll have to try Joe's sometime. If you go to the other side of MO, there are some pretty notable Italian restaurants on the Hill in st Louis. Honestly, I am not a big foodie but I love finding a good local joint just about anywhere I go. Anywhere in quasi rural areas near me, I look for the parking lot with lots of pickups... good down home coming nearly guaranteed. 😆
So you eat at the (pickup) truck stops. 😀
The article says - MISSOURI: Gates BBQ in Kansas City.
@CleavageFan4U gates is good. Jack stack is better imo.
@CL_Love I would vote for Bates City BBQ. Of course, it's the only one I've been to but it's good.
I know the Hill area very well . I use to date a couple ladies there. Those family's owned restaurants turn out old school foods from different areas of Italy. When ever my wife and myself are in St louis , we make it a point to explore a restaurant there 😁
The most famous restaurant in Nottingham is probably Restaurant Sat Bains. Located under a flyover, the restaurant has two Michelin stars. I've never dined there.
Is Boston's Cheers the sitcom one?
Yup, that's the Cheers - and the reason I visited.
@Baystateguy3670 I've never been to Boston.
@Baystateguy3670 Exeter is a lovely city. I've not seen the Major Oak in Sherwood Forest.
The five places mentioned in the text above in the order they were mentioned:
