It was another 3-day weekend. The Japanese government decided to create holidays in July and August, since the summer months didn't have any official national holidays. So, they created Ocean Day, 2nd Monday in July and Mountain Day, on the 2nd Monday in August.

Rain was forecast on Sunday and Monday, so Saturday was the only day I could go snorkeling. I packed up munchies and drinks in my cooler bag and headed for the beach I've been going to lately.

The water was calm, even on the other side of the park, so I go to do a bit of snorkeling over there, but the waves started to come in and the water was on the murky side. On land, there's a grassy picnic area where there were a bunch of dragonflies flying around. I saw a couple of squirrels squabbling in the trees.

I didn't spend much time on that side and snorkeled around the tetrapods. It looked like the coral exploded, but that was probably because the tide was out and I got a closer look. It was like swimming through a colorful garden, except the colors were on the sides of the walls.

As I was swimming around in the area, I figured out where a bunch of blue fishies hang out. I was pretty excited to see a bright blue moon wrasse. I saw it once before around the same area last year. There were pretty green ones, too. I also saw a school of barred flagfish and the elusive spotted jawfish. I may have seen a pod if squid, but they were too far to see clearly. The water was kinda murky. The boxed pufferfish were comical, as usual. The moorish idol looked like it was gliding through the water elegantly with its long trailing fin. I saw a bright orange fish that I think is a sea goldie.

I was happy seeing colorful soft coral and fishies, despite the water condition (on the murky side). It was a good snorkeling day.

For those who are wondering, yes, I got some ice cream on my way home from the beach. LoL

It rained on Sunday and Monday. I did do a bit of grocery shopping when the rain let up for a bit. My overgrown rose bush got some trimming. I ran into a neighbor, our neighborhood gardener, and she asked if she and her friend could cut some of the rose bulbs. She said that the bulbs were cute and decorative. I told her to help herself. I have to trim the roses anyway. By the time I got back from the grocery store, the branches that were sticking out were neatly trimmed with a pile of rose bulbs they wanted to add to the vase with other flowers. All I had to do was put the cut branches into a box. My neighbor said she took the liberty of cutting the branches that were sticking out since she liked pruning. No complaints here. She did me a favor. My rose bush looks much better.
