Another provocative post. Fear made me insecure, insecurity built the wall took away the ability to trust. It has been a long journey with many painful lessons and losses along the way. With age and a bit of wisdom it's better now, a better sense of self, more secure but there are still those moments I retreat behind my wall.
Thank you for your honesty. The fact that you can name it, reflect on it, and recognize your own growth speaks volumes. Itโs not about perfection, but about movement...and sometimes thatโs the most genuine form of progress.

A very interesting read.
Thank you, more to come in this series.
That clip was intense.
Realizing we are still adding mortar to our own walls is a sobering wake-up call.😶
Sobering, yesโฆbut also a quiet invitation to choose what we strengthen.

Damn, my boy here citing Lovecraft. Respect my G but you left out a very important part of the quote "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown". We are so assured on our station in the universe, that when we encounter something that breaks that illusion of our command on reality, it's terrifying. He will always be the king of Eldritch/cosmic horror. Being ran over by a ghost possed car is vacation, compared to the machinations created by Lovecrafts sick mind. Color out of space is my favorite story. Followed by Innsmouth and the Dunwich horror. There was a really cool book where a bunch of smaller named authors all collaborated and they each did a story in Lovecraft fashion. I know I don't have any context to that clip, so pinch of salt and what not. What she was saying, and how monotone dude was acting, made me uncomfortable. It had an uncanny valley vibe to it, like it was two things trying their best at imitating human emotion. You should be in flight or fight mode if your partner says "you aren't the one who is supposed to leave me, im supposed to be the one to leave you" and "no one will love you as much as I do" in less than thirty seconds?! That is your cue to either run, or roll the dice and possibly star in your very own cameo of an episode on the first 48.
First of all, massive respect for completing the H.P. Lovecraft quote. Though comparing certain relationship dynamics to "The Colour Out of Space" is honestly way too generous. At least the cosmic entities had the decency to remain incomprehensible instead of weaponizing everyday gaslighting.
As for the uncanny valley vibe, trust me, living through something like that feels less like a movie and more like staring directly into an eldritch abomination of emotional manipulation.
You are entirely right about the First 48 trajectory, that's precisely why these days you not only need high walls, you need reinforced concrete, mixed in with steel and a wide ass moat!
Because nobody looks good trying to narrate their own true-crime episode.
"The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door." ~ F.B.
LMAO

@4playlist_Sugswt thank you, I appreciate your kindness. You make an excellent point, about the colour out of space. I agree with you, it's not really relevant, to the subject matter. In a rare moment of honesty, I just like having an excuse to talk about it lol. And you are absolutely right, the "gods" in Lovecrafts pantheon at least have a structure, and are not chaotic. That's why I love the colour out of space because you had no way of really knowing if the meteorite even had any discernible motivation. It's pretty much like the movie "Annihilation". This entity had neither good or bad motivations. Its mere presence, was so alien that it was just inadvertently tearing reality apart. I am intrigued, it sounds like you have an interesting experience regarding the uncanny valley effect. I would love to hear about it. I got a good laugh out of the castle idea. Having a castle was peak, humanity. For quite awhile lol. Wow, I've only seen that quote brought up once in my life. Very cool!
I feel what you are saying, where we brace for the inevitable pain of them leaving, but want to hold them tight at the same time.
From what I understand that feeling never goes away, we have to learn how to recognize it and work with it.
It's challenging, but I am working on it, for my own well-being.
Thank you for sharing this. It takes a lot of grace to acknowledge that the fear doesn't magically vanish, but rather becomes something we learn to navigate with self-awareness. Choosing to work through that for your own well-being is such a powerful act of quiet strength. Wishing you so much peace on that journey.

How do we get "Closer"
Real intimacy does not live in guarantees or perfect safety, but in the trembling space between being known and being hurt.
There's probably a little bit of each one in all of us, but which one do you identify with more?
