It is amazing how the universe works. Also, what were you wrong about?
This post was about breaking up with someone and reconsidering it. It's all there in the post...first paragraph and last.
@MyNameIsKay What I actually missed in your post was if you were wrong for breaking up or wrong for reconsidering it?
@MyNameIsKay the post really resonated with me, reminding me of my most recent break up. We really enjoyed each other but were in two different places in our journey through life. I actually really respect her for making the call she made.
I don't really have any memories specifically tied to any music, but there is some music that automatically gets me bobbing my head.
That's the best...usually puts a smile on my face too.
I always know, that when I can get through Roy Orbison's Crying without crying, I'm well over any heartache.
Thank you for this great post.
My ex told me about cheating on Xmas day while watching one of my favorite movies. I gotta tell you, that's been hard to get over. But at some point in the past fifteen years...I may have a moment of thought about it when I rewatch the movie (being Jewish somewhat saved me from having Xmas ruined), but my kids and I are in a much better place than we ever would have been had he stayed. Now that moment of thought is a reminder of how far we've come.
I'm glad you liked the post. I was sort of wondering if I'd lost my touch after all this time. Lol.
@MyNameIsKay Once a blogger, always a blogger
I agree that some bits of music, songs, scents, places can bring you back to something in your past with all the emotions the event generated. I also agree that sometimes one doesn't want to know why that event/scene affects you so strongly. Not always easy to figure out the why.
Sending you big naked hugs!
Thanks JS. I think the sense of smell is considered the strongest of those things that can bring you a deep memory. It's all kind of fascinating really. Thanks for the hugs...my favorite.
@MyNameIsKay I am always willing to give a friend like you hugs. I admit I would love to be able to give you some hugs , clad or bare, in person.
Nicely written! And so true about music and scents...
Thanks, Smarty. Like you, I was having trouble figuring out what to write. But after reading a few of the other submissions, an opening line came to mind. I really kept thinking about that song last week...
Music always takes me back to my past, mainly a good past.
I'm glad to hear that your past is mainly a good one. I think mine as well. There are events I'd have rather not experienced, but then I like my life as it is now. Without them, I may not have ended up here.
HA. well put. I'll bet music is a trigger for many of us. Scents too.
Music is certainly one that works for me. The right piece can move me like nothing else. I was a dancer when I was younger...could never get me to sit still when the right song came along.
@MyNameIsKay Now I'm picturing you dancing, but it's not a youth dance. 😂
Whatever created those strong memories must have been special, and if you can reach in — and grab them. Good for you. 🤗
Not everyone has that sensory vault available to them.
I still find it interesting that some memories are so readily available even though I wouldn't necessarily say some of them were all that special. But they stuck for whatever reason.
My favorite are when I forget that I'm old...even for a few moments. Lol.
