…I made my last post a little too soon. One of the main reasons I cut back on blogging is that I made real friends from virtual ones and felt I’d lost some of the anonymity that came from that. A good trade if I do say so myself. But I never really got back to being as comfortable posting as I had been when it was completely anonymous. That’s a me thing, and I know it.
However, it does play into relationships when we know someone from the blogs more intimately and consider them part of our daily life. There have been times I’ve asked permission before posting something because I was concerned that I might be speaking out of turn, or the other person might be sensitive to the topic. In these instances, I have always kept the other person in my thoughts.
Where some people would say that you can make your own luck by working hard and laying a lot of groundwork, it can also be said that you can ruin your luck by forgetting to be thoughtful with those that are close in your life.

That is a pretty insightful realization. Respecting others and going over what you want to post to make sure that the other is comfortable with what you are putting out there is amazingly awesome of you.

I've only had one situation where someone was upset that I blogged about an encounter with them. But you're right, it's best to tread carefully!
Better safe than sorry I suppose. This had no good resolution. Although, I think we would have ended up here eventually. This incident just brought us there sooner and saved us both a lot of time spent in something that was likely not going to work out anyway.
I totally understand how filtering content, out of consideration for others, can impact our blogging. I almost faded away because of it.

It's interesting to reflect on how our relationships, even ones forged in virtual spaces, evolve and influence our actions—like seeking permission before sharing or being considerate about topics. I appreciate your perspective on luck, particularly the idea that our actions towards those close to us can play a role in sustaining or 'ruining' our luck. I've never met any bloggers so I've not faced the dilemmas you have faced.
It was at one of the bashes "back in the day." I still think it's a good trade. Sometimes I think about finding another "anonymous" place to post. Lol.
