Red - NVS Mid-Month Challenge 12

And there it was…a flash of red out of the corner of my eye. It was just draped over the bus stop bench, seemingly abandoned. I briefly wondered who had left it there but then continued on my way to work. It was all but forgotten by the time I got to my desk. The day was busy and when it was time for lunch, I made a mad dash to the take-out place across the street to grab my online order. I had a 1pm meeting and needed something in my stomach.

As I entered the restaurant, there it was…a flash of red out of the corner of my eye. I stopped dead in my tracks. The same item draped across an empty chair, seemingly abandoned. I thought back to this morning and tried to reconcile the two visions. Were they visions? Was I imagining this? It couldn’t really be the same item, could it? Just then, I got a notification that the meeting was starting in 15 minutes. I grabbed my food and mad-dashed my way back to the office. Food shoveled and one good (ladylike) belch later, it was all but forgotten by the time the zoom meeting started.

Just before leaving work, I got a text from my guy to check if we were still on for tonight. He said he had a surprise for me. “Absolutely,†I said as I grabbed my purse to head home and spruce up. The stress of the day disappeared as I heard him knock. I opened the door; he walked in and smiled a bit of a devilish smile. As he pulled me into that familiar full-bodied hug that we always had when he showed up, there it was…a flash of red out of the corner of my eye. I could have sworn I saw something in his coat pocket as he pulled me in. But I didn’t get a chance to see what it was. And whatever it was, it certainly couldn’t have been abandoned. But lost in the embrace and the kiss that followed, it was all but forgotten as his hand firmly planted on my ass and pulled me even closer. It felt so good, so needed.

A little while later as he crawled into bed, there it was…red staring me in the eyes. Not a flash, not a vision, but in full view. “Wrists together,†he said quietly with a tinge of command. Oh my, this was a surprise…and I had so many questions…which were all but forgotten as I lost myself in what came next.
