Was your weekend wonderful?
I did so much cooking! Jambalaya one day with chocolate rice krispies. Today was salisbury steaks with mashed spuds, gravy, green beans with bacon, and roasted carrots. Oh and chocolate cobbler over vanilla bean ice cream, because my youngest son just adores chocolate. And the baby adores all of the food, LOL.
I am feet up relaxing now.
Oh and this years pig arrived Saturday. He is a big, muscled boy. He settled into his outdoor pen without even fussing about it being dirt, LOL. The pigs we buy are usually retired show pigs. They tend to live in very clean stalls in heated barns. Until they move in with us. We provide shelter and tons of running space. No heat or fancy though, LOL.
St. Patricks day is almost here! Wear your green or get pinched!!

While I do love bacon and ham I cannot say I like pigs. Never trusted them on the farm when I was growing up.
I forgot it was St Patrick's Day Monday so I did not wear green. Actually, I spent the day not wearing anything at all. Does that mean you will have to pinch me?

Can I assume the pig was bought at an auction? Do show pigs usually bring in more money for the owner, than other pigs ?
No auction. I buy from local kids whose animals don't make the big auction. It lets me buy by the pound, rather than by someone's success. Less money. Still a gentled, muscled up critter.
You are right about the show pigs. The livestock that does well at the shows, usually go to the big auction where companies will pay thousands. It is a reward to the student who did well and hopefully has college aspirations.
We've just finished St Patrick's day. Ha Ha Ha. Irish Whisky and Beer 🍺 for me. Yum... 💋

He is destined for my freezer. They're fun pets for a while. Then they get big and destructive. And you want to eat them, LOL.

Food sounds wonderful. Was a busy weekend for me. Repaired some fence and plowed the garden. Then the high winds and rain come. Yesterday fed cattle enough to last where going to be out of town. Nice looking pig. How long before you slaughter it? Have a great Monday.
Slaughter is 7 weeks away. Just enough time to be sure he is clean inside. I usually like it to be longer but piggy had more showing to do.
