One of my favorite Far Side cartoons was of a person looking out at an empty huge conference room at a banner that said "Conference for Children of Functional Families." I think most people come from families that are dysfunctional in varying degrees. Some recover from them and become wonderful caring people like you, others just pass on the dysfunction. I wonder if there is a common thread about those who overcome the dysfunction.
Diane jokes that she and her sister may have been the only two who went to that fictional Far Side conference.
Sending you big naked hugs.
Watched the Preakness on a giant sports betting screen in a casino while my daughter was in the bathroom. LOL
I do understand, we have to chose our own path. The choice is ours to stop the cycle. Stay strong Pony, you are a wonderful person... Hugs
Your journey, choosing to seek good, count blessings, and share joy is such a beautiful outlook.
The way you describe your connection with your animals and your love of riding is so touching.
Thank you for sharing your story—it’s a reminder that even through difficulty, we can create meaning and happiness.
I think lots of Gen X people were feral growing up. I was the bottom of 5, then Dad married a woman with 4 kids after the death of our mother. I remember them getting me a small, black poodle, named Blacky. The neighbor accidentally ran him over with his car. I still have trust issues. Like you, I try to be nice to everyone I meet.
OMG I am so sorry about Blacky!! That is horrible.
Hugs!!
I hope you got it posted to her link hun, and I hope your enjoying an awesome weekend..
Seems you turned out to be incredibly loving despite (because of?) all the challenges. And you truly are "PonyGirl".
Supposedly pony or horse was my first word. I guess animals loved me more even then, LOL. I started begging to ride as soon as I formed sentences. I started 'lessons' at age 5. Horses were my escape. You are right, I AM PonyGirl
I hope you don't mind but I posted a link to your blog post on The New Virtual Symposium's group page - see Mid-Month Challenge 4.
Thank you!! I forgot to go link it there. My brain is on vacation
Hugs!!!
Don't forget to love 💕 💗 yourself. 💋
This is my challenge in life
Hugs!!
Horses are what keep me sane. I made them my career. I went to college and got a degree in equine science. I don't want to go into details here, but horses are part of why I am here.,or should I say, horses keep me on track otherwise I'd be off the rails. I guess I am rambling.
Horses saved you. And keep saving you every day. I get it.
I wanted to be an equine vet. My parents vetoed that idea and I caved. That was a bad decision on my part.
Hugs!!!
@PonyGirl1965 how ironic...I too wanted to be an equine vet. At the time I graduated high school, I couldn't afford vet school at the time. I got a degree in equine science, worked for a veterinarian right out of college. I spent 8 good yrs there as a vet tech.
