Yeah, I remember those cheaper days and miss the heck out of them. Back when I lived in VA and needed tires I would buy them online and have delivered and use the auto hobby shop on the base to swap em out. Now that I work for another agency that perks is gone. Oh well.
I bought my truck after moving back from Japan, for 3k in cash. She's a '91 Toyota 4X4 pickup, no not a Tacoma or a pre runner, a pickup. I have swapped the engine twice, swapped the bed once and painted the exterior in tinted bed liner, driven her across the continent 7 or 8 times now and we won't talk about the explorations of the desert. Oh and her name is Mikko, chuckle.
My dad had a Toyota truck. He gave it to my oldest son when it was quite old. He drove it to death
Hugs!!
American tyres are expensive.
I agree on the electronics on these vehicles! Not for me! I have an 04 Chevy with 380k miles, bought it in 06 with 4k..good truck. I just bought another one like it only an 07 with 60k. One work truck one go to town truck. Then I have a 04 Dodge 3500 diesel that is my heavy hauler. I pay cash for mine too....I don't like payments. My buddy always says, "tits or tires =trouble"......well I'd like to find some trouble with the former! Lol
I keep dreaming about buying an old square body Chevy from the 80's No nutty electronics but they did rust way too fast.
Good you've vehicle until now in this circumstances.. time to change things now is hard with people
I think I can still get 4 tires for my dinky car for about $400 รฐลธยคโ
I've had my Subaru for a little over 10 years. I think that's the longest I've had a vehicle, the average has been more like six years. I will probably hang on to it a while longer as it only has 56,000 miles (haven't been driving much since I retired!).
I usually dump cars when they get to 100K miles or 10 years.
Four new tires for the Mustang (20" wheels) set me back about $1,600 a few months ago.
Wow that hurts!!!
Sorry you got a nail in your tire I hate when that happens. We a have a Toyota Tacoma and tires for it were almost four hundred six years ago, I will hate to see what they are now. As everything is going up.
We keep our vehicles for a long time too I want an SUV with a warranty as hubby is getting to old to work on cars, and the last time he changed the brakes on a car it took him all day and that was over 10 years ago.
I hope you both enjoy your Thursday and it continues to treat you well.

Warranties are starting to look good, especially now that everything is computerized on the vehicles. It hiccups and you have to be able to tie in to the on board computer. It's crazy.
Hugs!!
I usually drive a vehicle until the wheels come off, but the last two vehicles went to the kids when they needed a vehicle to get back and forth to college. Both were low-ish mileage used cars when I bought them, but high mileage vehicles when I gave them to the kids. Bought new this last time, but still paid cash. I don't like paying interest. Hubs says we should trade this one off before it gets to be so high mileage that something big goes wrong. Fingers crossed that is at least a ways out.
You are smart to pay cash for new. I would need to save more to get there.
Hugs!!
$300 for a tire?! I donรขโฌโขt even have a car, but that made my wallet flinch in sympathy. Your post had me grinning all the way throughรขโฌโthereรขโฌโขs something so grounding about how you tell it. Glad that Expedition adventure ended in resale and not regrets.
Thank you! We got lucky to sell it.
I prefer to always look for the silver lining.
Hugs!!
I got new tires on my Blazer last winter. We were excited to fill out the forms for TWO rebates, totalling around $250.00. We got one in the usual 6 weeks, but the other one took 6 months to receive! WTH??
Well that seems silly. At least you did finally receive it.
Hugs!!
Yes I remember tired for $30 and now $300 usually they don't like to replace one they say you need 2.. I keep my cars for a long time but never get that high in mileage you are getting your moneys worth I have to say..Keep driving them into the ground. I admire people like you..Oh yes the 3100 and the lady are both sweet looking
I'm one that looks for a used one that is in great shape and keep it until it is worn out. Pay cash for, don't think it is wise to borrow on a depreciating asset....Hugs
Exactly!! I let someone else take that new sticker hickey. I buy them and enjoy them until they are getting rotted, LOL.
Hugs!!
Wow, you have fantastic legs.
Sometimes you get a comfortable good one. Hard to let it go.
My daily driver is a 2003 VW Golf Tdi with 226,000 miles on it. Gets 53mpg or 800+ miles per tank. Iรขโฌโขve driven it for 21 years.
I'm a musician so I need a van or mini van ... I drove all my Toyota mini vans to 250K . I got the Toyota Previa van to 335K thats 1/3 of a million miles !!! I've upgraded to a Ram Promaster that i'm outfitting to camp out of...it's a 2022 with 26k, I'm planning on this being my last one ... the 2 of us will ride off into the sunset together !
My old Ford dually hit 300k. I still miss that truck
