I baked an angel food cake the other day. I love angel food cakes.
Light. Fluffy. Softly sweet.
They are fat free which makes them healthier than your average dessert.
And since they tend to be neutral flavored, you can cover them with any sort of fruit your little heart desires.
This time, I have sliced strawberries. Bananas. Apples and oranges. I do have canned peaches too.
Maybe a drizzle of chocolate or caramel syrup. Honey.
And whipped cream. Which deletes the whole fat free thing, hehehe.

Angel Food cakes are the best. Love it with crushed strawberries and coolwhip. My fav.
I haven't had angel food cake in ages! My mom used to bake angel food cake when we lived in the States.
Hello Pony Luv, the grocery store sells a sour cream angel food cake which one of my sweeties truly enjoys. I'm more of a devil's food cake person.

So glad you enjoy angel food cake, I have never been a fan of it myself. I find it too sticky and I just don't care for the taste of it. Now pound cake I love it and I make this delicious strawberry shortcake out of it.

I used to enjoy a good cake. Both Angel and Devil's food cakes were wonderful torments and I couldn't pick a side. Then I developed celiac and both just became torments of a different sort. I am now in the purgatory of gluten free and it just isn't the same, unfortunately. Now I have transfered my love to mother nature and devour those fruits with relish. I particularly enjoy juicy peaches.
I am sorry you have Celiac disease. And delighted you found delicious fruits. They are so much better for us than any cake.

What is not to like (or TO like) about angel food cake? It's all about the toppings as you say. But sometimes just playing with the toppings can be fun - as the image shows!

@PonyGirl1965 I've just done an internet search. We do have angel food cake here though we would probably call it a sponge cake.
@spunkycumfun I have heard cakes called sponges. I thought that was the ordinary cakes with lots of flour and whole eggs. Maybe they are all sponges
