Monday, I stayed busy all day. I wanted to clean the snakes water bowl, so I gave him a temporary bowl. Of course he dumped it over. Ugh. So I cleaned out his enclosure and gave him fresh pine shavings. And his sparkling clean water bowl that can't be dumped over, LOL.
As I walked into my laundry room to dump snake trash, big shock, I found an unknown basket of dirty laundry. This is how the laundry fairy system works. Usually I wait for Cowboy to actually speak and ask for his laundry to be washed. Today though I knew I needed the space in there so I just dumped them in the washer.
The reason I needed the space, to handle over 500 pounds of beef. The steer came home in chunks and hunks for the freezer. It is glorious and comforting to have a freezer full of meat again. Even if it is a hassle to put up hundreds of pounds of groceries in one fell swoop, LOL.
For the curious folks, all expenses tallied - final cost was right at $9 per pound. The most it has ever been for us.
Ground beef is maybe a third of it. Then another third is roasts. The final third is steaks and briskets.
Our beef is lean and clean. Much better than anything I can buy in grocery stores. I could buy the same quality at a nice butcher but it would cost a bunch more. I was dismayed to see ground beef at wally world for 8/pound. How does anyone afford to feed their family? Yikes.
Now if I could buy a couple of cows and sell the extra calves, my beef costs would be covered. I don't want no bull though, LOL.

It's great you have your freezer full of beef and that's quite a haul you got there. I remember as a teenager my parents would buy 1/2 beef's at a time to keep our side by side full of beef. My step dad liked steaks so no I am not a fan of those these days. But I sure love me some brisket. I bet your beef will be delicious when you cook it us.
So glad you got his laundry and the snakes bowl all done too. I hope you enjoy a very happy hump day.

Yeah, that's a good deal for sure. Hope you have a back-up generator!
I don't want him to beg. However if he wants his laundry washed in a certain time frame, he could speak up.
Yes, we do have a back up generator. When the power goes out, I don't care about powering anything but the freezer, LOL.
wow and that is a lot of meat but u have an variety, is this angus??enjoy a fresh steak on the grill i'll be over with spoon and fork.. hugs
Yes Stubby was an Angus steer. Stout black boy. They always grow and fill out so nicely
I do my own beef. Know where it comes from and the quality is at the top. Enjoy my friend....Hugs
You have skills. Cowboy can clean fish. We both learned back in our 20's, LOL. Neither of us learned home butchering. It would be a great skill to have

That is one heck of a lot of beef! I switched to extra lean ground turkey several years ago.
My best friendรขโฌโขs husband entered palliative care on April 1. Monday afternoon, he passed away peacefully, knowing she was alone there with him. My heart breaks for her.
Oh how sad. I will pray for your friend. It hurts to lose a spouse.
