It is very disturbing and serious, and we all need to push back as all the Comedians have made fun of all the Presidents through out history as that's what makes America great. It's funny to listen to and watch them as they tell jokes about what is going on in the world in their own funny way.

Some people act like they are belittling the FELON when if fact they are only taking what he does and says and making it funny in the only way they can. You know it's funny that the FELON can say what ever disparaging things he wants about others, but then he gets all butt hurt when it's done to him!!

The companies can run their business as they see fit, no matter what the government says. Free enterprise so far. Money will always talk.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts here because Nextstar and Sinclair are trying to make that deal where Nextstar will own 80% of the stations here in the U.S. that is what they reported last night.

It's sad that a President (which I refer to as the FELON) as that is what he is and has been convicted by his peers, doesn't want to be treated badly or misspoken about. I mean seriously all he does is bring the stuff they say about him on himself. He does nothing to help the people like he said he would. But people should of known that and why they voted for him I haven't a clue honestly.

Jimmy Kimmel does have the right to say what ever he wants under our first amendment that is so true. The statement made about the shooter of Charlie Kirk should have been thought out more in my opinion. I am sick and tired of the Businesses, Schools, Attorneys, and some Media outlets bending to the Felon that is wrong on so many levels. People need to get some BALLS yes I said it and stand up to the FELON once and for all before no one has any rights left at all!!

Just one thing about what you said in the first paragraph of your reply to my comment. Either where you heard the reporting about the 80% got the measurement wrong or maybe you didn't catch what the 80% is.

If the deal between NextStar and Tenga goes through the stations they own will comprise a reach covering 80% of the households in the U.S. It will not be 80% of the stations in the U.S. The rule currently caps at 39% though many large media companies that own stations get around that by having another company own the station but their company operating it.

I think they are also constrained by the number of stations that can be owned in a market. Of course, that is also circumvented by letting another company own and their company operating.

You are correct that NextStar does have an issue it wants the FCC to rule favorably on. The merger and the upping the household reach percentage. Not sure if it played in any but they also have another reason to stick it to ABC. A couple years ago they purchased 85% interest in the CW. So, that puts them as a competitor to Disney as a network owner.

Been sometime since I read about the household limit, but I am thinking one reason was to keep the Networks, ABC, CBS and NBC, at the time from owning not just the networks but all the stations too.

Don't know if you are aware but ABC was born from a divesture by NBC. In the early days of radio NBC operated two networks (NBC Red and NBC Blue). As a result of an FCC complaint by another media company, NBC was forced to divest itself of the Blue network and that became ABC.

In the current media climate where we now have 4 major networks (CBS, NBC ABC and Fox) and one mid-major network (recently saw the CW referred to that way) with national reach with the addition of the internet (podcasts and such), the multiple over-the-air digital networks (e.g., MeTV, Antennae, Cozy, etc) and FAST (Free Ad-Supported Television) networks on streamers and the net the household restriction is probably not as important as it used to be.

I just know that they can't control what the media does as there are many lawsuits coming and there are already some waiting to be judged on. Was researching something a couple years ago and kind of went down a rabbit hole. LOL

Sounds like with your Fox station it is a similar situation as a couple of channels in Omaha. There has been a bit of a twist to this which I will talk about later but until recently the channel that was the CW affiliate and the channel that was the Fox affiliate were owned by two different companies, but one company had an agreement with the other to manage operations. That meant shared studios, equipment and in some cases on air personnel. That situation could be why you see the news coverage you do. Do a search of the station and look at Wikipedia. That will tell you if there is an agreement between the Fox and ABC station.

The twist I referenced has to do with a new broadcasting standard that is coming (though I don't know when the permanent switch happens. It is a situation very similar to when stations switched from analog to digital broadcasting. During that switch stations did broadcasts of both analog and digital on their tower till the deadline for them to cease broadcasting an analog signal.

The new standard is ATSC 3.0. The current is ATSC 1.0. The new standard is supposed to allow receipt of the signal\broadcast of devices other that TVs and is supposed to allow some interactive feature. Haven't really read about it in a while.

The reason for the twist is to do the conversion many markets have local stations teaming up to make the switch. I know in KC and Omaha a station has agreed to use their tower to broadcast the new ATSC 3.0 programming. The other stations have agreed to use their towers to broadcast the other stations ATSC 1.0 programming. Those stations will split up the other stations main network and each of the digital networks between each other. You are not supposed to notice a difference on your TV using an antenna but I noticed in KC and in Omaha that it is not always true. Using my TV alone I am missing some but if I use a converter box I have from the analog\digital switch I get them. I suspect it is a signal strength issue.

Probably more than you wanted to know. Again, look at your station on Wikipedia and it will give you info on how it is related to other stations.

Jimmy Fallon was spot on in his commentary about Jimmy Kimmel. It's so sad that they suspended him as he has a ill son that he needs to take care of and with no income how is he supposed to do that right..

@SNGLDADLKNFORFUN I get it. I'm just conditioned that when I talk about Trump, MAGA want to talk about Biden. I just see it as deflection tactic. I'm quite happy to talk about Biden by the way. He was what I call a solid American president, he acted on advice. As a Brit, I wished he had given Ukraine more support against Putin.
It may not be such an issue in America for obvious reasons, but Putin's Russia is a big issue in Europe. In the last week or so, he has ordered drones to fly over Poland and Romania and just very recently ordered three Russian jets to fly over Estonia. Russia is probably just testing NATO's resolve hoping that Trump turns a 'blind' eye.

Just because someone is a Muslim doesn't mean that the problem is with the religion (by the way, I'm not religious) or that the problem lies with most or all Muslims. With religion (I'm including Judeo-Christian religions here), it's often the so-called fundamentalists who commit the violence in the name of religion. But I suspect other factors, like poverty and a lack of education, are at play.

As far as prices go things are not going down here especially coffee for instance it's now $20.00 a can for the kind that my hubby drinks, each month I have noticed an increase of our monthly grocery bills since he's been in office.

Gas keeps going up here as well, and he did run on making things cheaper for all of us which we are not seeing here!! I don't think it's right that any comedian gets their jobs taken away for telling the truth about our officials in office in their own comedic style. So once again we will have to agree to disagree.

There is no escaping that, and not to mention all of the assaults on women. The appeals court just ruled in favor of E. Jean Carroll and he now has to pay the 85 million dollars the jury awarded her. I don't see how you can keep making excuses for someone who definitely is not a good person!!
