Digging Out

Stephen King supposedly coined the phrases:

Fool me once and shame on me....
Fool me twice and shame on you....
Fool me three times and shame on both of us.

This morning I am digging out of my shame having been scammed several times last evening by sweet young lovelies. The money is not the thing; I can live with that. It just took a big bite out of my pride. Perhaps that's not such a bad thing from time to time, but it hurts when I thought I was being so cautious, even careful.

Lessons hopefully learned: (again)

1. Not everyone is who or what they say they are.
2. Trust is earned over time, not minutes, but
   hours, days, weeks.
3. When you lead with your wants rather than
   what you need you can get burned.
4. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, think
   with what's between your ears rather than
   what's between your legs.
