Camping update - remember how I said I didn't have a "ground sheet" for the tent? I was on my step stool in the garage, rummaging around to see what I had for tarps on the top shelf when I spied something....a small package. Guess what it was?
Haha I guess I bought one after all!
I had a second trial run of putting up and taking down the tent today - outside this time. Just under 20 minutes to put it up and 15 minutes to take it down.
And I watched a couple more videos and learned a couple of things I didn't know, like that the rain fly can be rolled back and fastened for more air circulation (if it's not raining of course). The weather forecast didn't improve - there's a chance of rain tomorrow night (sure, let's get the tent wet right off the bat) and it's supposed to be in the 90's on Saturday and Sunday. Hey at least I'm not riding a bike 60 miles in those temps...my only concern is that it might be a bit hot sleeping at night.
Here I am inside my cozy tent.
It almost has me thinking how an isolated camp site could be fun with a tent companion. 😉

I'll probably be mostly offline until Sunday...I only get a gig of data a month on my phone plan and I find if I'm not on wifi for a few days, boom! I exceed it and have to pay extra. It's all of $12 for another gig. Sorry, it's not worth it. 😁

After just one too many rainy trips I quit tent camping in Florida and purchased an OLD pop-up camper a neighbor was selling.

I think that's a good solution for a lot of people. I don't really have the space to store one. I'm happy with the amount of space that the tent and sleeping bag take up on my garage shelf. 😊
It rained the first night, and I stayed cozy and dry! A pleasant surprise.
That tent looks like a nice one. REI does make some very good tents. You are right that having a tent companion can be a lot of fun. Used to go tent camping at Mazo the nearby clothing optional beach on the Wisconsin River. Got a lot of campers from the Twin Cities on weekends.
Your picture in the open bathrobe is fabulous. So very sensual, rather erotic but not blatant. Love the colors and pattern of the robe.

I'll be posting a report soon on my tent adventure. I'll just say that it went better than I expected but there were still a few challenges. I think I would need a bigger tent for a tent companion because I'm pretty squirmy.
What a stroke of luck to find that ground cover. .....thats a sign that this trip is meant to be.

Sounds like you are all set for your camping adventure. What are you doing for meals?
There will be a camping support company following us around to the campgrounds. Coffee in the morning, breakfast and dinner, phone charging station, and a showering setup! They also will be setting up and taking down tents for people who paid extra for that. Lunch will be provided by communities along the route.
I love camping , setting up the tent and everything else is actually fun for me. Plus having a camping partner included is a big plus.
