First a seasonal cartoon.
I did experience this on Saturday. This might be a repeat story for those of you who read through all of the comment section. As I mentioned, after the yoga retreat on Saturday I had a doughnut craving. I had already been thinking about making a trip to the Arboretum's apple store. During apple season they have an outlet a couple of miles west of the Arboretum (i.e. two more miles out of my way) where they sell apples and a bunch of apple related products (apple butter, frozen apple pies, apple potpourri, you name it). I learned they would also have a food truck on site selling apple doughnuts. Perfect!
Well...I got there and the small parking lot was completely full - there were signs pointing to more parking. I got the last spot on a lawn at the end of a dirt road. Walked back...there were at least 40 people waiting in line at the food truck...the line didn't seem to be moving. Went inside the store - products grossly overpriced. $14 for gourmet salad dressing. $22 for a frozen apple pie (maybe not out of line, but more than I wanted to pay). People lined up back into the store from the checkout register, waiting to pay.
I noped right out of there (before the mellow buzz from the yoga retreat completely wore off). And stopped at Speedway on the way home. Which I still keep wanting to call SuperAmerica, are the doughnuts still Supermom's doughnuts? Moral, don't go to the Apple House on a weekend day in September or October.
The remodeling has finally begun!! After a one day delay. The dumpster was supposed to be delivered last Friday and placed in my back driveway off of the alley. However the dumpster company had failed to actually look at the street view pics that my project manager sent them two weeks ago. On Friday they called him and said "Uh, we don't think we can get it placed in that alley, it's too tight". Which resulted in a scramble to get a city permit to place it on the street in front of my house. The big-ass dumpster was delivered yesterday and today I have three guys on site, two doing a lot of banging and one running back and forth taking stuff out to the dumpster.
They did a great job of covering up everything. My bedroom is hermetically sealed off, lol.
They even put some plastic down in the kitchen, below the hole in the ceiling that is underneath the bathroom. I thought that might be overkill, but no - there is a significant amount of plaster crap on it.
I forgot to take a before picture of the bathroom. Too late now!

Depending on your definition of "soon". A couple of months if all goes on schedule. Not continuous work for two months, but, allowing for scheduling of all of the different specialists...

I don't envy the mess but hopefully the new bathroom will be worth it all in the end.
Fingers crossed! The bathroom has basically been non-functional for several months anyway (when they cleaned up the water damage last March, they removed the toilet and put it in the shower - gee thanks guys, now I can't use the shower either). So it's not as big of a change as it might seem.
That photo would be a great motivator for the work crew.

@kzoopair I imagine that side of me would be a surprise, after seeing me in flannel shirt and sweat pants. Or maybe not - I'm sure they haven't failed to notice that one of the bedrooms has a massage table and that there are two bottles of lube on my bedside table (flavored and unflavored).
I'm sure these guys could have a blog of their own about the stuff they observe when working on people's houses.
Pies are ridiculous I remember buying an Apricot or Peach

bakery here in town. Now the prices are like $25-$30 now

I cheated and looked at the synopsis - yikes! Definitely a concern with bondage, especially as we get into our age group. I mean, hopefully I'll never have a partner succumb to a heart attack during sex, but it could happen.
I was pretty stunned at the amount of dust. They put drop cloths down in the hallway outside my bedroom, but there's a thick layer of dust between the bannister poles where they weren't able to cover it.
I've never experienced apple country but a good friend of mine lives in Washington state and gets about a week off for the apple harvest! I couldn't believe it was a thing but yes it is!! As a kid my neighborhood was surrounded by farms. There were tomato patches and corn fields that we'd frequent often. You'd get the best tasting tomatoes plucked right off the vine that make today's tomatoes more like plastic decorations and the sweetest most tender corn ever. We we a bit picky with the corn though. It had to come from Old Man Cutler's farm. Haha.
A home grown tomato is definitely an entirely different thing.

I enjoy autumn a lot, too. But more in the mode of hiking in a park, than visiting an overcrowded apple orchard (although I will probably still end up making a pilgrimage to my favorite one - I'll just make sure it's on a week day).
@smartasswoman Hiking in autumn is the best! We have many parks around here with some nice trails. Everything from a relaxing walk in the woods to challenging! I especially love taking hikes with my dogs.
OMG Smarty that's a sexy picture. (The one of you in the chains, not the ones of your house, which have put me off finally getting someone in to do any renovations here! ) I will always think of you like this from now on. @smartasswoman I don't exactly grow them - they just grow on their own! There was an apple tree in the garden when I bought the house. I don't even know what the variety is, but they are absolutely the most delicious apples I have ever had. I do prune the tree each year, so I suppose in a way I can claim to grow them. There are a lot this year.

It's more of a full remodel than a repair at this point - although yes, it did start out as needing to address the fact that I had a bunch of wet flooring removed around a toilet that had leaked.
@smartasswoman Thing about companies hired today to do work at a home. They come in, pull stuff apart and then you don't see them in a while because they are working at another place, and do the same thing there, and continue the process until they show up again in who knows how much time has gone by till they finish it up.
@CallMeMrWrong69 I have access to the schedule...it all looks pretty logical. Demolition followed by framing followed by plumbing followed by electric, etc. There is definitely some slack - like two weeks set aside for tile, I can't imagine it will take that long.
But yes - they have various sub contractors who they have to allocate to multiple projects that are going on. Even so I've got to think this will be faster than if I were trying to manage it myself and line up plumbers and electricians and tile guys at the proper times.
@smartasswoman You definitely understand the process and have it covered. Living in FL all those years, I saw so many people get frustrated with contractors and not delivering as promised. It kind of became a joke that these contractors go into these areas that are in need of having their homes repaired only to see them disappear with the money they got and not deliver on the promised repair, I am so skeptical of anyone doing work for me and will scrutinize everything about them as for their work and completion as well as customer satisfaction.
Ugh, maybe hanging out at the seasonal stores for a few weeks isn't as bad as it seems, surely less stressful than being home. How about a nice hotel? 😁
