I can recommend getting a water softener if you're getting heavy limescale in the shower.
Hm, I wouldn’t say it’s heavy. Our local water utility treats the water to reduce it from 20 grains per gallon to 5-6 grains per gallon, which is considered “moderately” hard. I don’t think most people in the area have water softeners.
How about translucent glass for the door. it does not show the water spots.
Hmmmm....interesting idea. I'm not big on the idea of translucent glass because I like being able to watch HWD taking a shower. 😉
Also, it would block the view of the back tile wall which is going to be a visual focus.
@smartasswoman instead of watching someone in the shower, take the shower with them.
@Notaname99 well, sometimes that happens too. Sometimes I’ve already showered and just don’t feel like getting wet all over again. 😂
The second shower that’s been in use since last spring definitely doesn’t have room for two. I’m looking forward to it being an option to shower together again.
It's always fun to watch things transform.
The framing allowed me to really start picturing the space. The plumbing and electrical will not be quite as exciting. 😊
Now that is some funny shit.
Loved the cat meme! So true.
Your shower looks spectacular!! I have refused glass walls because of hard water spots. I fight hard water deposits in every plumbing fixture we have now. I don't want more. Our shower has a fun curtain. I toss it in the washer with towels. When it stops repelling water it gets repurposed. Its not fashionable yet fits my life. You do your shower the way you want.
I love the memes! LOL
True about water spots. I've been having to use the shower in my other bathroom (which was almost totally unused for the last eight years). The shower control is chrome and I've learned that I need to wipe it down right after the shower or I'm gonna get water spots.
I'm not big on shower curtains, this second bathroom I've been using has one and I always feel like it's billowing in and attacking me.
I wouldn't be surprised if Enigma feels that way when her cats gang up on her 😂
Seems like your walk-in shower is going to look awesome when it's done
I sure hope so! A lot will depend on whether the fancy tile actually looks like I thought it would look. 😬
I wish they'd photoshopped that last meme so it looked a little more... boebert-y!
Smart move locating the shower controls where you won't get blasted! That's my biggest pet peeve about some of the hotels I've stayed in... there's no way to turn the water on without being IN the freakin shower!!
boebert-y 😂
Having the controls inside the shower entrance was actually the idea of one of the other remodelers I talked to (the guy who was a fast talker and then never got back to me in writing). I was happy to steal his intellectual property, lol. The plumber complimented me on it yesterday.
I don't think Boebert would get it either. She's not notably quick in the uptake.
She's probably too young to remember the debacle with Paul Reubens' arrest.
You must be pleased to see the progress being made.
What is the estimated timeline for everything to be completed?
It's scheduled for completion in mid-November. It's not like it will be continuous work for two months. There is slack built into the schedule, and time that needs to be set aside for city inspections after various parts of the project are completed.
Has anyone thought of putting in a 2 inch edge on the bottom of the shower opening to keep the water in?
That last meme ... Boe-zinga!
Oh, there will be a lip like that. I think the designer thinks that water will fly out the open door. And it may. In my previous shower/tub combo that only had a glass partition covering half of it, I usually ended up with some water on the edge of the tub that didn't have glass.
@smartasswoman Do you plan on a shower curtain? If so, then your water should be contained. Plus, I'm assuming your showerhead can be aimed to the wall if need be.
@superbjversion2 no plan for a curtain. But I agree, I can slightly turn the shower head toward the back wall.
If I'm understanding the picture and description correctly, that looks like one BIG shower - plenty of room for others. 😂
The shower on the cruise ship did not have a door. I'm guessing that is because it would have just banged around in the heavy seas. The room did have a channel all around the perimeter that was sloped towards a drain.
Yes, it will be big. AND there will be a handheld shower attached to the middle of the back wall. 😁
I think both of the cruise ship showers I've experience were VERY cramped, basically a glass tube with a curved sliding door to close. So tight that I could barely raise my arms over my head. It makes some sense to have something more open and just let the bathroom get wet.
