I like the color on the left, too. The other seems too dark for a bathroom (imo)
Agreed! Itās a bit tricky because the sconce lights that will be above the vanity arenāt up yet, but Iām pretty sure I would find that too dark covering all of the walls.
I like the paint on the left but it is a cold colour. From your windows I am guessing it's a Victorian house, will it be light enough on a sunny day?
Itās a 1939 house. Good question about whether the room will be light enough. Part will also depend on the light fixtures - there will be two sconce lights on the wall above the vanity, on either side of the mirror. Iām guessing I could play with the temperature of the LED bulbs to somewhat change the appearance of the paint.
If I hate it after living through four seasons (winter and summer light are very different!) itās easy enough to re-paint.
Buy sample sizes of paint. i think home depot sells them for about $2.50. paint a spot on the wall and look at it for a week. try several. the walls will look odd for a week with different paint spots. but who cares? it is a process.
maybe do not choose one. make the wall a checkerboard of different colors. lol
Well, yes, that was what I did. š Although my design guy took care of procuring the samples.
@smartasswoman i was talking about the other rooms. you said you were considering changing colors in other rooms....
@Notaname99 Yes, that's what I've always done when repainting. Buy a small can first and paint some large blobs on the wall. š
I like the color on the left too!
How are those the same colors? They donāt look the same
Yeah, her body doesnāt look right at all in that position.
They sure donāt look the same at all. I think to get an accurate idea in the living room, maybe Iād have to get a very large piece of white paper, paint a swatch on it and put it up on the wall. The brown really throws it off.
Rib flare and sucking her stomach in is my guess... a strange pic to be sure!!!
Color fuckery is truly apt... you're saying that the color painted on the right side of the bathroom wall is the same color as the swatch taped to the living room wall?? It's like one of my old illusion posts!
Yes, thatās what Iām saying. Iām realizing I should have included a third picture showing the paper swatch against the painted wall to āproveā itās the same color.
I like the Tidewater color you chose. It's very pleasant.
Did they photoshop her waist a bit smaller? Her ribs do protrude quite a bit.
I like your photoshop theory. Although whomever did the photoshopping should be fired, haha!
Some folks are a tad blind as others are tone deaf.
And some of us are both! š
@smartasswoman Mefears I resemble that remark
My whole house needs repainted and none of the colors I've ever picked were exactly what I thought they'd be based on samples. Dread having to do it again.
Yeah my bedroom color is a minor disaster so I decided to go a little more muted for the bathroom, even if it ends up a bit boring.
Oh my...choosing color. I just went through that picking a color to redo the cabinets at my NC condo. It was not a fun process. But in the end, we all liked the final color, Dustblu. We were looking for something with a hint of blue in the gray because the theme is black, blue, white, and grey. Everyone is happy, especially my prop managers! I'll see it in person one day. Lol. And spunky just saying to choose by instinct doesn't work for someone born without one speck of a gene for interior design. I'd hire that woman!
(I was originally going to say the color on the left, but I felt the one on the right matched the tile better. But that might not be how it looks in person.)
My designer also thought that the one on the right picked up some of the tile color. He seems to perceive color much more strongly. To me the floor tiles are gray with just a hint of blue. He thinks they're teal blue. I can only see that when the tile is sitting next to another tile that's a true gray.
IF I'm following the story correctly (and an image hasn't gotten lost here) the sample sheet on the brown wall by the picture is the sample sheet for the area of sage green paint by the window. Is that correct? If so - WHAT THE HELL??!! I know lighting conditions impact colors, but that's not even close!
But you now, there is one, and really only one, way to know for sure how any paint will look. Do the ENTIRE room and see. š If it's not TOO horrible you'll learn to accept it eventually.
TWO SETS OF BOOBS? (Aren't you proud of me for commenting on the paint first?) I think she's just so damn skinny in that pose her ribs protrude more than her bewbies. š But you're right - someone messed up in selecting this shot for use.
Yes, you've got it right. If I have time tomorrow (and the bathroom hasn't been painted over yet) I'll take a picture of the swatch held against the painted wall - I'm guessing it will be a close match.
I'm thinking our eyes perceive it differently when it's shown on a white wall, vs. being shown on a brown wall.
"Build a plan that propels your progress."
I'm tired already.
The model has a tiny waist and her ribcage is prominent. In that pose it does look like her ribs bulge, but my wife has a ribcage like that. It isn't particularly noticeable but I can feel how the lower ribcage flares at the bottom. (She'd love to be that taut and slender again.)
Someone else commented that maybe her waist had been photoshopped thinner, resulting in the freakish looking ribs...
Lose boobs, gain ribs š
Yeah. Doesnāt look good, nor is it realistic. That look reminds me of a starving dog.
Colors that might look good on swatches donāt always look good on bigger surfaces, especially when dealing with colors that arenāt neutral. Too bad they donāt have color samples in wallpaper size.
Yes, sheās pretty thin ⦠if nothing else, if working with a personal trainer you would expect to see more muscles in her arms.
The tiny paint cards that you get at the paint store definitely arenāt enough to make a decision. It was nice, my designer was able to get me larger swatches, 8āx11ā - thatās whatās on the living room wall. After getting 8 or 9 of those, I was able to narrow it down to the two finalists to actually order paint samples.
None, paint it in black.
Nope, not gonna happen. š
Would prefer a brighter shade
I had a couple brighter blues under consideration but my designer thought that strongly colored pastels look āchildishā lol. He may be correct.
@smartasswoman it is good if u like it, muah
