Several commenters were curious about what's involved with fire play, so I thought I'd do a little follow up.
There were two people who engaged in at the party yesterday. Guy #1 was the friend who I asked if he would do it to me at the next party. The woman he was working on was lying face up on a massage table. She was nude but he limited what he was doing to her stomach area. He had a can of hairstyling mousse, shook it up and then applied it on her stomach in a circle. Then he touched a lighter to it and a flame moved around the circle. As I understand it, the bottom feels some warmth but no discomfort or burning. O, the woman he was working with, definitely didn't have any marks on her stomach after the scene.
The flame would make one circuit of the mousse and then stop - but he was able to re-light each application of mousse several times before most of the alcohol burned off. For safety he had an assistant standing by with a towel, ready to quickly smother the flame if it got too intense.
Here's a video that shows what it looks like when mousse is lighted (not showing it on a person, though, unfortunately). The second half of the video is in slow motion and actually was the first pass when the mousse was freshest and had the most alcohol. Honestly, what I saw at the party yesterday looked less scary than this, I think because the room was well-lit, not dark.
Person #2 was doing a more elaborate scene where they had sticks with some kind of material on the end, that they would soak in a flammable liquid (alcohol I assume) and then light on fire so it was like a miniature torch, which they were then quickly passing over their bottom. Again, the bottom didn't seem to be in any visible discomfort, but I'm not sure I'd be up for this particular variation. Particularly since I saw occasional little flashes of their body hair catching on fire. 😬
Here's a video of this kind of fire play, it's kind of long but you can get an idea just watching the first minute or so.
@CarpeJamie also had several questions about the kink party...
Regarding your kink party: how are 'scenes' determined? is it previously planned between a top and a bottom? are there standard scenes that are performed at meets? Is it all completely improvisational usually?
The answer to all - "it depends". 😂
For example, the scene I described a couple weeks ago with two tops, two bottoms, and a Bop-It toy - was almost certainly pre-planned. Things like that don't usually happen on the spur of the moment. For one thing, most tops aren't carrying around a Bop-It in their toy bag.
People who are partners outside of the party or longtime play partners would usually have made plans to play with each other before the party, but would be more likely to wing it in terms of the actual details of what happens in the scene. I'll give the example with three couples who are regulars at our parties. These three couples all have the same dynamic - a dominant woman and a submissive male partner - and they are friends who get together for shenanigans outside of our parties as well. I don't think they always have details worked out in advance - aside from the outfits the men wear. Part of their dynamic is making the guys dress in feminine attire and often they're in matching outfits or at the least, matching colors.
Anyway, yesterday they showed up and decided to do a group scene. There's a support pole in the middle of the basement dungeon and the women decided to cuff the guys together in a circle around the pole. They then proceeded to whale on them in various ways, as the guys tried to dodge, but there wasn't a lot they could do to get away.
Other times there might be no plans beforehand and a scene is spur of the moment. I mentioned the young guy who was attending his first party yesterday. At first he was just watching what was going on. My friend C. struck up a conversation with him and they were chatting for quite a while. With some gentle encouragement (no doubt helped by seeing the three guys dressed up in lace) he left to change clothes and came back in fishnet stockings and a cute black leatherette dress with a swingy short skirt (think kinky skater dress). C. then talked him into doing an exploratory scene just to experience different styles of topping and different implements. She started out by flogging him. I then took over. I used a crop on him lightly and then put on leather gloves and ran my hands over his body and spanked him with the leather gloves on. S. was third and she used a few other different tools on him, plus a healthy helping of dirty talk ("what a nice slutty outfit you're wearing. Are you a good little slut?" I'm no good at that hahaha!).
Another spur of the moment scene yesterday was when S. saw a partygoer use "finger spurs" during the opening icebreaker game. She came up to him afterward and asked him to use them on her later in the party.
Now you'll want to know what a finger spur is I'm sure! I could not find a picture online. It was a metal tube that he could slide over a finger, that had an outside ring that could rotate, and on the outside ring there were metal points. So, he could run his hand over someone and the metal points would rotate around and poke into the person. Like the fire play, apparently it looked a scarier than it felt. Both of the woman he used it on enjoyed it.
As to whether there is a "standard scene", most of what I see at parties are different variations on impact play - spanking, hitting with various implements, flogging, sometimes whipping (although that takes a lot of space and skill so it's rare).
Anything more exotic - like a rope scene where someone is being suspended, fire play, piss play, etc. - is much more likely to be pre-planned rather than improvisational.

The parties sound like fun. I love to watch scenes other than 'just flogging'.
I really enjoy flogging (giving and receiving) but I agree, it's not necessarily very exciting to watch.
Not really my thing but always interesting to learn more about. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for reading (and of course, feel free to skim if I'm going on and on about something that's of limited interest to you! 😃 )
@smartasswoman I still find it interesting ... love learning about it.
Interesting stuff Smarty......thanks for the info. The things we learn on site ~
Happy to be informative! 😁
I recall in high school chemistry the teacher would hold a mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol in his hand and light it. He said the trick was to get the mixtures just right so the heat from the burning of the alcohol went all to evaporating the water. Do you think he was a fire play kinkster perhaps? 😀
Think I have the same brand lighter as the person in the first video!
That babe in the second video seems like quite the naughty brat - full of fun and spunk.
Ah, interesting about the water/alcohol mixture! I'll have to read up on that.
The woman in the second video is clearly hamming it up since it's a show. But that's OK! 😊
Interesting.
Very cool video, I had no idea you could do that with mousse! I got to participate in some electric play at a dungeon 101 party last year, that was a lot of fun, with the grounded table and the different metal and metallic implements.
Electrical play intrigues me a bit too, but it doesn’t seem like a fantastic idea with my occasional issues with irregular heart rate. 🤷♀️
@smartasswoman yikes, I hadn't really thought about that!
I believe torching a mousse is illegal in Canada.
You may be right.
That first video looks really cool. Hopefully, HWD is with you and can take a pic or two.
Unfortunately, he works during the day and it’s unlikely he’d get time off for this. It would be fun for him to be able to attend one of our daytime parties though - I think they have a much lighter, more playful vibe than a lot of the other groups.
Thanks for the idea to have someone take a picture!
That fire play would definitely be something interesting to watch.
Japanese kink sometimes favors candle play. They use a special candle that melts at lower temperatures so there's less chance of burning from the wax.
Ah, I forgot to mention wax play! It can have a nice extra edge to it when you scrape off the hardened wax with a knife. 😁
I soooo need to try wax play!!
@CarpeJamie Some might enjoy it, but I tend to agree with you.
Great information, thanks for covering it and demystifying some stuff for people.
The second video doesn’t allow for sharing apparently.
Yes, I wonder if there’s a way to tell if a YouTube’s not going to be embeddable? Seems like the only way to find out is by seeing it come up that way after you hit Post. Oh well, it’s easy for people to link over to YouTube if they’re interested. It’s quite a bit more sexy than the foam on a board haha!
And you’re welcome, I’m happy to blather on about this stuff as long as people are interested. 😊
