Here's an 11th hour submission. Yesterday it was gloomy here and I wasn't in the mood to take a picture. Today I started out with yoga and weights, then when I got home the plumbing inspector was going to be coming by to do final sign-off on the bathroom, so not a good time to be taking pictures of myself, hehe. After that I was off to Vietnamese Social Services for their Lunar New Year party - I had volunteered to hand out gifts to everyone from the organization I'm on the board of. The executive director of my organization was also supposed to be there. Right as I was leaving my house she texted and said she was just too busy to come, trying to get things wrapped up before she goes on vacation tomorrow. Grrrr...this is why I am leaving the board, she can't be counted on.
So I got there and the director introduced me and asked me to say a few words. Every announcement up until then was in Vietnamese, so I felt awkward AF - I knew I was supposed to talk about my organization but hadn't really prepared so I just said, "We distribute 6-7,000 gifts a year to seniors for different holidays, thank you for letting me join your celebration and happy new year". All of the gifts had names on them so a nice gentleman who could actually read and pronounce the names called them out one by one, and then I handed out the gifts to people.
It was actually pretty fun. They had a band with two 80 year old guys on electric guitar, plus a drummer. They were playing when I first came in, then after the gifts were distributed a group of ladies came up to sing a song with the band backing. Most of the ladies in attendance were wearing gorgeous long tunics or dresses. And did not look elderly! Thanks Clairol.
So here's my scrappy scarf that I've been working on for a couple of months to use up leftover yarn.
I'm nowhere near running out of leftover yarn, but I think it's close to being outrageously long so I'll probably finish it up soon.
Happy year of the dragon! Maybe I need to knit something with a dragon on it this year.

The only rule to the colors is cool colors for the background, warm colors for the star pattern. The chaos seems to be working ok so far.

I feel bad, but it’s just not worth the aggravation. I’ll continue to knit things for them for gifts.
Now I need to find some kind of volunteer activity that’s a better fit for me.
