You might think this video is a joke, but the famous Sweethearts candy actually did release a special edition featuring "reject" hearts with messages that were too blurry.
Somebody in the company was a genius to think of a way of using the misprints instead of throwing them out. The podcast where I heard about this - the host said "I can just imagine in their year end sustainability report they're going to be bragging this up big time".
As a matter of fact, the idea was so popular that apparently these special edition boxes have sold out. As a substitute, Sweethearts are offering downloadable cards on their web site.
As someone who is in a somewhat blurry situationship, I feel seen. 🥰
Making lemons from lemonade part 2
Remember the bathroom tile that looked really weird once it was up on the wall?
I had some of the stars and crosses left over. And I also still have leftover tile from the project of tiling my fireplace. My good friend L. has taken up mosaic art. She has mosaic stepping stones and gazing balls scattered all over her yard. She has a membership at a nearby mosaic studio and we went there yesterday (I paid for a day pass). I had purchased a cheapo coffee table that has a removable metal tray for a top. Plus another tray on the bottom where I can keep yarn balls!
L. helped me get set up. A large piece of cardboard with the circumference of the tray drawn on it in sharpie, plus some intersecting diameter lines to help center the tiles. A piece of plastic over that. Then mosaic mesh. Then I got started with gluing tiles. Here it is, almost finished.
It went really quickly because of the bathroom tiles being so big, and not having to cut the smaller square and circular tiles that were left over from my fireplace. I only had to nip and arrange broken tiles in four small areas. The final step will be to apply lots of adhesive to the bottom of the mesh and to the tray, and affix the tiles to the tray. Then grout the whole thing.
Here's the mosaic L. was working on yesterday - a tribute to her father who passed away a couple of years ago. He was an artist and featured sunflowers in his paintings frequently.

Hmmmm I doubt it! It strikes me as being similar to knitting in that the amount that I'd want to get for my time would exceed the amount that anyone is willing to pay for it. 😃
It was interesting though, at the studio we went to the owner was working on a very large scale mosaic that will eventually be placed on an outdoor pizza oven. It was beautiful.

It's not all that difficult to do (Ok, like I said mine was super easy because I wasn't having to cut tiles to fit spaces, very much).

It seems like the "situationship" boxes might be sold out, they're probably being sold for exorbitant amounts on eBay.
