Museum visit yesterday. I went to the Cafesjian museum, which is a small private museum with rotating exhibits of art collected by Gerard Cafesjian. He was an executive of West Publishing, a legal publishing firm. And was an avid art appreciator before he ever became wealthy - during his youth in New York he frequently visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The current exhibit is called Fooling the Eye. Two artists are featured. Victor Vasarely (1906-1997) was known as the grandfather of the Op Art movement.
I looked at this work and thought "wow this looks like the 1960's". It was actually created in 1972, close enough!
His illusions are very dimensional, the docent said frequently visitors will go to look at this painting from the side just to confirm it's really flat.
Jon Kuhn (born 1947) works in glass. But rather than manipulating it with heat like a glass blowing artist, he carefully glues together many tiny pieces of glass.
Sometimes all clear glass, sometimes multicolored. And in the case of this piece, the flowers in the middle of the cube are actually a glass creation of a different artist.
This piece was a kind of gaudy, but still...a real stunner.
He's worth looking up online to see other examples of his work.

I'm not 100% happy with the fit, but certainly not dissatisfied enough to rip it out and start over. Because I already did that - halfway anyway - when I decided the top green color was boring and that I would transition it into a lighter more lively green. Anyway, back to the fit, in these cases one always hopes that the blocking process - where you wash the finished sweater and then dry it flat, pressing it into the shape that you want - will work miracles.

I saw a thread where people were recommending TV shows to watch if you like the series Fargo, and was reminded of the Amazon series Patriot. I'm planning on giving up Amazon Prime when my renewal comes up in June. Patriot might be one of the things I have to re-watch between now and then.
The main character, John Lakeman, is a spy. But not the kind of glamorous spy portrayed by Sean Connery. He screws things up often. He's a depressed sad sack. Who happens to also be a folk musician and maybe giving away government secrets in his songs.

I think your transitioning to the lighter green makes the sweater more interesting than if you had ripped the old green out and gone with just the lighter green.
I agree the art is awesome! I keep thinking that Diane and I need to come up to the Twin Cities and tour the art museums. Looks like you have some great ones. One problem is it looks like a multi day trip to take in just one museum.
Yes, the Minneapolis Institute of Art could definitely be a two day visit. On the other hand they have a really large collection of Asian pottery and so forth, so if you were willing to buzz by that you might be able to do it in a day (not that I dislike Asian pottery...just saying if I was prioritizing I'd probably look at other galleries first).
You also might want to strategize so that you're visiting at a time when whatever special exhibition they have going is something you're interested in.

Admission to the museum is free but you do have to reserve in advance. I think they have three time slots a day, Thursday through Saturday.

I remember trying to create op art pieces and couldn’t give them the 3-dimensional look.
I don’t have any streaming services and have been enjoying in-theatre experiences seeing films on an assorted of screens.
I like the design on your sweater. How long will the finished product be?
I have to think the painted pieces required a lot of math and precision to get the perspective just right for the illusion.
The finished sweater will have long sleeves and probably hit just below the waistline. Sometimes it just depends on how much yarn one has left at that point. 😊

@CarpeJamie in a nutshell…when you’re doing stranded colorwork in knitting, colors can look more or less prominent depending on how you’re handling the yarn in the back of the project.

It's an eye catcher. As soon as the designer released that pattern a couple of years ago, I knew I'd be making it someday. Her sample was in gold and brown.

Both clips are for the same show. 😊 Unless you're thinking of Fargo too. It's a great TV show - every season is a different setting and a different cast of characters (with a few who repeat just for fun). Noah Hawley does a good job of capturing the vibe of the Fargo movie, I think.
