When I needed my hysterectomy, I was in the process of paying off my deductible. My original surgery date was supposed to be Jan, not Dec, which would have meant another deductible. I told the scheduler that if she could get me in before the end of the year, I would make her cookies. She did and I did!
Every insurance company in America has its own fee schedule. Medical providers have to accept those fees when they contract with an insurance company. That's why it's important to always ask if medical facilities and doctors are participating providers.
I had heard stories of people getting a surprise when they discovered, for example, that the anesthetist in the OR wasn't in network for their health plan. Luckily I didn't have any surprises of that nature.
$500 for a 3-month supply of blood thinners?? Egads!!
That would make people without much income choose between buying groceries to feed the family or pay for their medication.
I think the next batch might be cheaper since I may have spent my out of pocket requirement by then.
There is a much cheaper alternative, but it has some disadvantages compared to Eliquis. Itโs difficult to calibrate so you have to do a lab test at least once a month to check levels in your blood.
Our medical system makes no sense and that is all I dare say about it without ranting.
I had to say that I am especially fond of that particular shaped breast. Something about the top slope being concave seems so much sexier than convex. Love the glorious variations on the theme of naughty bits.
Last year my wife had some serious medical issues that lasted the good part of the year. This includes several hospitals stays and surgerys . She has recovered very well and is back at work and even got a new position and a nice pay raise.
We expected some major medical cost. What we found is our medical carrier covered all cost except three hundred and 72 dollars which was our deductible.
Youโve got great coverage! Something to be grateful for, as not everyone is so lucky.
@smartasswoman yes we do . It is part of our retirement package from our former employer .
Cowboys first hip replacement cost us nothing. No clue how we got that lucky. His knee replacement 2 months later cost us a few hundred dollars. Like yours, the original amount owed was insane. It should never ever show that kind of amount. Shame on them.
Your meds would hurt my budget.
The lady has delightful breasts.
Hugs!!
Yes, the original charges are the part I don't understand. Does that mean that some unfortunate people, whose insurance plan hasn't aggressively negotiated, might have to pay that much??
I think I remember hearing from someone that by establishing a high "list" price, then when they get paid less they can write off the difference as a loss. I suppose that reduces taxes? It's all so confusing.
@smartasswoman As so many hospitals are "Non-Profits" or associated with a religious group the tax angle doesn't make a lot of sense. It is no wonder that the uninsured go bankrupt when they have to pay list price on Hospital bills.
My husband had outpatient shoulder surgery and we're still trying to figure out what it cost but it looks like a couple of Grand at least... ugh. Like you, we can afford it but it just sucks that insurance isn't covering more of it.
Because I'm guessing your insurance premiums aren't cheap, either!!
Clickbait fail - Does that piss you off as much as it does me? (Probably not.) But yea, they're nice. Can you imagine them in one of those torpedo bras I showed last Friday? DANGEROUS!!
The El Nino winter started out like forecast (and hoped) but it's turned into quite a bust here of late.
Those "insurance adjustment" numbers give an indication of just how badly the industry is functioning.
It did annoy me. Between the fact that a really boring picture ended up being the preview picture, and the fact that the post was in review limbo for over 12 hours, Iโm sure this wonโt be seen by anyone except my loyal followers who get alerts. Oh well you guys are the ones who count!
The pictures ๐ฑ I assume thatโs Aff fault. Iโm sure they were correct when you started.
Iโm with you on her tatas, theyโre a lovely shape!
Wow on the snow, so where did they get the snow? Man made like from one of those snow machines? I thought that was detergent flakes or something. Youโre telling me they can make actual snow?
Health insurance is a racket. None of it makes sense.
When I was waiting for the post to be approved, I checked it and saw that the medical bill screenshot had disappeared. And the order of the other images had been jumbled. So I deleted all of the images and reloaded them in the right order.
I wonder how it would have come out if I hadnโt done that. The fact that now the medical screenshot is showing up twice makes me think maybe it WAS going to be there even though I couldnโt see it? ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Oh and yes, they stockpiled snow made by snowmaking machines. As long as you have a water source and temps are low enough, you can make snow. The texture is a little different from the natural stuff - less glide. There are several cross country ski areas in the Twin Cities that have invested in snow guns and have a short loop with manmade snow. They are the only option during a winter like this and get really crowded.
Iโm guessing the Birkebeiner org was making snow at night for weeks - piling it up and then covering with tarps so it wouldnโt melt during the warm daytime temperatures weโve been having.
Can you get the $10 copay card for your Eliquis? That's what my doc gave me. Not sure if Medicare
I've seen that discount card mentioned in a couple of online AFib groups, I should look into it.
To be honest, it's basically free for me...I have a health savings account that I can use to reimburse myself for health costs, and most years it earns more than I take out.
Wow, about the lack of snow...
... and a BIG WOW about that bill and what you actually paid. ๐ฒ
Oh, and wow about those mammaries as well. ๐๐
Wow wow wow!
Interesting thing, based on where your comment is, it looks like you commented early, but it didn't actually appear for me until much later.
As Beavis said to Butthead, "All boobs are ...uhh...uuh...memorizing."
Those ones are worth memorizing, I think.
Oh FFS, it didnโt get approved for twelve hours and then they messed up the pictures.
