I don’t know if that was supposed to be six or sex or something else, but I don’t answer messages like that, so I let it go to auto reply.
Two months later:
Biff: You always lived in st paul? I grew up on the east side, wonder if we ever met
Me: I've never lived on the east side. Was in WBL 1991-2015, now I live in Highland.
Biff: I lived on grand ave for a long time, so you didnt grow up in st oaul?
Biff: Grand parents had a house right by the golf course
Biff: In highland
OK…I figured one polite reply was enough. I wasn’t really interested in talking about his grandma’s house on the golf course. So I let it go to auto reply again.
Two days later:
Biff: No conversing I guess
Me: Like my profile says - I’m mostly here to blog these days. I’m quite social and friendly on the Community side of the site. But not really into messaging with folks on the dating side, sorry.
Biff: How the hell do I contact you all the blog had was a lecture on woman problems?
Me: 😂 Thanks for confirming you’re not my type.
Biff: Yea I’m no hairless gay boy.
I guess for guys like this it will always be an enigma as to how to get a conversation going.

To be fair I did shut him down on “normal conversation” - I just wasn’t interested in going on about the neighborhoods of St. Paul! But yeah - “shorted out” is a great way to describe it.
He is really slow to take a hint. Sadly I do not think a baseball bat would help.
Not as persistent as some who I've dealt with... I figure if they've gotten the auto reply six times and still don't get it, it's time to block. I don't think that'll be necessary in this case.
@smartasswoman I hope blocking will not be necessary. He sure sounded childish about it all.

Excellent point though - I bet he just glanced at whatever posts were being displayed on my profile and never figured out that one can leave comments and sometimes that becomes a conversation.

It doesn’t help that the Message Center hides older messages and you have to click to see them. And in fact, when I answered “have you always lived in St. Paul “ politely, it was because at that moment I hadn’t noticed that there were older messages from him from a couple of months ago. If I had gone backwards and seen the first messages I wouldn’t have replied to him.
@smartasswoman my emails...holds all the previous conversations with that person in the same thread. Once i open it to reply...our prior conversations are right there. Its interesting the message center is not the same for all of us. ~
@jajo696 on my iPad only the last couple of messages are displayed and the pin there’s a blue link that says ‘Click to see older messages.’
