It reminds me of when I transferred photos from various devices to USBsβ¦.am I really going to look at them again?
Re-reading 1800 blogs sounds labour intensive. Wouldnβt you rather be knitting π§Ά, doing yoga π§ββοΈ or other activities?
It doesn't feel like a chore, because it's fun to read old posts. As to whether I'll ever look at them again? π€·π»ββοΈ It seems that saving them (at least some of them) is the only way I can bring myself to delete them, so it's a necessary evil I guess.
Internet search on my username? I bet I find weird stuff that is not related to me, LOL. I think I'm afraid, LOL.
I suspect your instinct is right and there are a lot of PonyGirls out there!
I recently tested a search on Cat Lady and as you might imagine, it was impossible. π
Ive done it...searched user name...and im on sites....ive never even heard of.....ugh !! I don't even know IF they are affiliates of this site or not. Scary stuffs ~
I hope you're making good progress on your clean-up. I'm about to start my clean-up once I deal with all the alerts I came back to - well over 2,500!
Oh goodnessβ¦I think everyone would be understanding if you just delete all of those alerts and start fresh!
@smartasswoman I have deleted and I am deleting nearly all of them. It just takes a bit of time, though I'm nearly on top of them now.
Sounds like a daunting task Smarty...good luck on the journey. Oy Vey ~
Thanks jajo. I assume that pretty soon here I'll start getting more selective about what I think needs to be saved, and just go straight to deletion. π
If disappear close dating side probably delete everything
I think about it, cleaning out my blog.... and then I don't do anything. Every now and then I see an old post of mine that makes me wonder "who WAS I?" but I'm just going to leave it out there to be more flotsam and jetsam on the web.
That's probably a more realistic approach. π
(now I'm kind of curious to go read old Tickle posts to find out who you were...tee hee).
Eighteen hundred? π²
FFS... you've been busy. And I'm overwhelmed with sifting through a measly four hundred. π
I've been using "Word" since day one, so I have all my posts and stories filed somewhere. However, when I go back and read them, not all are keepers. I've found the task of deleting them from THIS space to be pointless and β like you said β time-consuming.
If I search, I'll find Paulxx001 sprinkling the adult web since 2018. My friends and business contacts would be proud if they knew. Although, I doubt they visit porn sites. ItZ just us here, right? π
I recently tried the "Hide Your Blog" feature, and it sort of works. However, although your Blog is invisible from your Community Profile page, it is still visible from your Blog page but closed to comments.
Nothing will be gone from these pages unless you unlink your Profiles, delete your Blog, and then delete your Dating Profile. Or leave everything up where it is. It will give people something to do while they wait for this planet to implode. ππ
Do people read yesterday's Blog? πΆ
@smartasswoman
The quickest β and most efficient β way to disappear is to mention the "unmentionables" ... and POOF
Like magic... ππβ¨ππ
Donβt forget, Iβve been blogging here since fall of 2006. So Iβm not really much more prolific than you.
Iβm not sure why I feel the need to delete it all before leaving. Spite? Control issues?
And yes, that was what I was referring to when I mentioned cooking something up to get myself disappeared. π
To answer your question ... and based on my experience ...
I started blogging in 2012. I closed my profile and left the site in 2013. Of course, this was when dating and blogging were all one. I returned in my current Version 2 persona in 2014. My old blog was still around. It took several years before it disappeared.
In the new Community, I learned that I could hide my dating profile but my Community profile would still be visible...until the day I turned my dating profile back on and then hid it again. At that time, my blog vanished. No one could see it, including myself. I needed Tier 2 IT to fix it but my blog was restored intact. I suspect that if you close your profile and leave the site that your blog would not be visible but also would not really be gone.
Ah yes, I remember that snafu you had after hiding your profile.
I am quite sure that even if something is not visible, itβs not really gone. Even the posts that Iβm laboriously deleting.
Glad you're sticking around. π
I think it was you that first clued me in on the dating profile / random blog selection thing. I've looked at it a few times and it seems the site is doing a fair job of deleting any semblance of meaning from many of my posts, especially the older ones, which in most cases are missing all the comments as well.
Interesting, I feel like a decent chunk of my comments are still showing. Including multiple iterations of the same comment if the person edited it!
