I've always loved Carole King's music. Her talent as a writer is even more impressive when you consider the variety of artists that made hits with her tunes. The examples in your post prove the point: the Shirelles, the Monkees, and the Animals...talk about diversity! And for all of them, one can immediately hear the tune in your head as soon as you mention the artist/song/etc.
I was quite surprised at the variety of artists. (We Gotta Get Out of This Place was written by their competitors Mann and Weil, though π ).
@smartasswoman
I missed that part......
The Tattoo is great.
Thanks! π
I have kind of a "favorite table" at our local dinner theatre that is towards the back/middle but closer to the door. I feel less trapped there. It is MUCH less crowded than their previous venue which I didn't go to much because you could NOT even move your chair. I've been lucky enough to get seats in approximately the same location for several shows. I had heard of Carole King, but a lot of her stuff is before my time. I really enjoyed "locomotion" and "will you still love me tomorrow" which were the only songs for other artists I recognized. Congrats on the photo editing win. I hate when I know I can do something, but can't get the tech to behave.
We used to have a dinner theater like that... and if yours was anything like ours, you do NOT want to get in between the oldsters and the dessert bar when it opens!!!! Still sounds like a fun time, even though I know nothing about Carole King lol.
Oh my, a dessert bar would have been utter chaos with the number of people in that theater. We had the option of having dessert delivered to our table at intermission (at extra cost) - I passed.
Have always loved her. Its amazing to me that she wrote....will you love me tomorrow ....as a teenager. Im like huh? That depth of thought at such a young age. Where u get ur info from Carole? lol
So glad you enjoyed!!
The way it was presented in the musical, her husband wrote those lyrics. Kind of interesting since they're definitely from the viewpoint of a woman.
Sounds like fun. Recognized all but one of musical items that would be by The Cookies. Remember watching the Monkeys on TV. Favorite song posted by The Animals
I remember watching the Monkees too. Of course among my girlfriends and I it was because we thought they were sooooo cuuuuute.
So many rock stars stated out as writers and then later moved into performing their own material.
I guess I didn't know that.
It sounds like an eclectic time was had by all. π
It was a toe tapping, head nodding experience for sure.
Yay for victory! Sweeter for being troublesome.
I knew Carole had written songs for other artists, just not which ones or how many years before Tapestry. Thanks for those music clips. I gotta go listen to some more Eric Burdon ... what a voice!
He does have a wonderful booming voice. I dig the Animals, man.
Your persistence paid off!
The Tapestry album was release February 10, 1971.
Fifty Years Since Tapestry Released
And it was a classic! She didn't need Gerry to be writing her lyrics after all...
@smartasswoman I enjoyed the musical and like you, learned more about Carole and her prolific songwriting career.
The black and white rendition is awesome π
I donβt like crammed venues, either.
Especially since 2020. π¬ Fortunately I wasn't thinking about all of the possible viruses floating around during the show...
Finally we can see what you wanted. Great photoshop. Artistic
As for Chanhassen Dinner Theater I forgot it exists. Last time I was there it was years and years ago. Probably not this century π
As for mango voters itβs unfortunately every day occurrence
And as the last, I love Animals. I might prefer βwe gotta get out of this planetβ.π€·ββοΈ
It was definitely the last century for me. I can't remember the occasion.They seem to be catering to boomers, based on the acts that they had scheduled in the second theater that has musical "tribute" bands.
@smartasswoman
I corrected a few typos in my reply. I was in hurry.
It shouldβve been mango not mongo. Because of distinctive color π
@EnyojLife lol I was wondering about that.
@smartasswoman
Full phrase is Mango Mussolini. But sometimes mango is acceptable
Goodnight
I like how that tat is colored against the black and white, it's really pretty.
I hate being crammed in places.
And the tables for two were set up so you were sideways to the stage and had to crane over one shoulder most of the time... I think I prefer to just figure out my own meal somewhere else and go to a theater with "normal" seating.
You have a lovely back, I hope I'm not too forward there!
Not at all too forward, and thank you!
@mufdiver69er2 I'm glad someone noticed!
