Oh no hope get basem issue resolved Nice artwork for socks
All dry now Nick. But yeah I think I need to get the sewer line inspected.
Basement flooding is a nightmare. In July, 2013 our aging sewer system couldn't handle a month's worth of rain that fell in 1 hour. Black sludge and water six inches deep backed up through my laundry room drain. I lost everything including a fully-furnished rec room. I could not get my insurance renewed unless a costly backwater valve was installed.
Get your home inspected. If it's happened once, you are at risk for it happening again.
Belated HNW 😉
Yep, I need to get the sewer line inspected and also to add a rider to my home insurance. Or at least price it out. I understand it can be ten to fifteen thousand if the sewer line from the home to the main line in the street needs to be replaced.
Clearly ain is evil... How about.. just the Sox now LoL
Nope. I know you have to try asking though, haha.
Fun pics 😁
Is your basement ok?
Ooo thanks for reminding me. It was MOSTLY dry last night but I need to go down and wring out towels in the last area where the wall is still seeping a little.
Sorry to hear about the water issues. That sucks. I like the AI sock pic - cool colors.
Thanks! The floor drain is no longer backing up and the seeping along the edges of the walls is at a more manageable level today. 😊
Lot of rain last night. Hopefully problem will be fixed.
Times like this, I’m not fond of being a homeowner. Thanks for the good wishes!
@smartasswoman
Homeowner, just don’t mention contractors and yard work 😱😵💫
@smartasswoman
I forgot to mention very nice photos
I hope you get the water seepage problem fixed soon.
Happy HNW!
The floor drain isn't backing up any more so that's one major worry dispelled - although I suppose I should still get someone out to inspect it.
@smartasswoman This may be an issue with the central collection system (City maintained I would assume) - especially in older neighborhoods there can be high inflow and infiltration during wet weather to the sanitary sewer system. If you have yours inspected and don't find any issues, you might report it to the sewer utility that you had some backup issues during rain events so that they can possibly inspect their system. Also, you can consider a backflow preventer valve that would minimize the possibility of raw sewage backing up when their system fails. HTH
@CL_Love I was wondering about that - I thought I remembered hearing that during really heavy rainfall the storm sewers can overflow into the sanitary sewer.
I think the first step is to get the line from the house out to the street inspected. If it needs to be replaced that will be mucho dinero.
@smartasswoman In most communities, it isn't a direct connection of the stormwater system to the sanitary system (combined sewers are fairly rare in the US anymore), but rather the fact that many of the old vitrified clay pipes have joint separation or root intrusion or bad connections at service lines that allow the water that soaks into the ground to enter the sanitary system that isn't designed to carry those flows overloading the pipes and causing backups.
It is also possible that your line wouldn't need full replacement, but only possible spot repair which wouldn't be AS pricey. And like I said, also possible it isn't YOUR line at all, but a quality plumbing inspection with a camera will let you know for sure.
I don't like what the AI did with your legs, but the rest of it is kinda cool.
Good job
Happy HNW
BJ said it made the socks look like boots and I think that's what happened, it misunderstood the picture. At least I don't have a third hand sprouting out of my forehead. 😂
I love the look of knee socks on a woman . It is very, very sexy and on you they emphasize your long sexy legs 😉
My legs do look better covered up, lol. 😊 (lots of varicose veins, etc)
AI made your socks look like boots in that last pic ... though I did like the jaunty hat.
Isn't pouring water into the backyard just going to add more water to leak In? If you don't have a washtub then use a sink.
Actually I was walking the bucket over to my back driveway where it would drain down into the alley.
There is a washtub in the basement but it drains into the same pipe as the floor drain that was backing up last night...so I was assuming if I emptied water into that it was just going to come back out on to the basement floor.
Looks like the picture of the art print disappeared, trying again:
I don’t get why a pic of an art print is being deleted. It’s an Art Nouveau poster so it’s not like there should be a copyright issue.
OH MY - best wishes. I've been there done that, and my basement is 70% finished.
The Pic Art AI one is really neat!
Happy HNW.
My basement is 50% finished...luckily there is only a water problem on the unfinished side. The previous owners installed drain tile and a sump pump on the front side of the house but for some reason not the back. 🤔. It might finally be time to rectify that, although I think it would mean tearing up my brick patio. 😬
