Just this morning I had someone comment on a REALLY old post. I guess they spotted it via the random link on the dating side. I've long been one for elaborate formatting in my posts and it really bugs me to see how trashed some of these posts are.
Thatโs another good reason for me to be cleaning up, I donโt really want to leave a post out there if it looks like gibberish.
@smartasswoman I was looking at some old posts the other night and noticed that some of them were missing words and of course letters that I know were there when I posted them. Now those posts make no sense.
@justskin1 Oh yeah, depending upon the age, I have all levels of screwed up stuff. But the most maddening part is the vast majority of them lost the comments.
@CleavageFan4U Lost comments and tags no longer associated with the comment.
When I came back, I just quickly scanned through all my old posts. I was shocked how many had emoji reactions on them.
It's curious, for sure.
That's. Interesting and simultaneously confusing
I think in the old format, bloggers were able to disable the thumbs up/down reactions. I had mine turned off. I haven't paid attention to the reactions in my old posts, but I've seen a few funky things.
Oooooh interesting! Maybe THAT's why I don't remember ever seeing it before Community went live - maybe I had disabled it. Now that you mention it, I do have a vague memory of those - they didn't display the same way that they do now, did they?
@smartasswoman
No it was only thumbs up and down.
Well...there's those 3 old posts that show up on your profile. Someone could easily click and think they're current. All the same emoji? I've got no answer for that ... not even a wacky, made-up one.
btw - I ๐'d this post just for chuckles!
I saw what you did there! (even before you explained it in this comment, I saw it in my alerts and chuckled)
I can see where people might find their way to that old post via the blog roulette on my profile. But it beggars belief that a dozen of them would put a ๐ emoji on a detailed account of a 2010 TdF stage. ๐
Weird stuff happening. I just scrolled back to old posts and despite comments being posted, the pics are gone and this message box appears:
โThis post has been denied and not viewable by other members. Edit or click here to have it reviewed again.โ
That IS weird.
I definitely have missing pictures on any posts that are older than a certain amount. I think when there was the big blog meltdown a couple of years ago, they initially removed ALL images and then when they restored them they only went back a few years.
But I don't think I've seen the denied message on older posts that originally were approved and commented on.
I've had a few of those when I was copying posts over to my archive, but a lot of those were duplicates of approved posts but without images.
I think... you might be mistaken.
I've looked back into my posts, and they ALL have a bunch. The thing is, back then, people rarely pressed THAT button, but it existed and I used it for the blog post.
And of course... for comments.
You know me. ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐
Iโm 99% sure that emoji reactions on posts and comments were NOT available back in 2010. And when I look at the usernames none of them are people who reading and commenting on my blog back then.
And actually no, if you go back far enough in your posts most of them just have one like. All from Despertar2019. I donโt think theyโre a bot , Iโve had interactions with them. They may have decided at some point to go back and put a like on every one of your posts.
Emojis were always available through a keyboard option.
As for that other stuff?
Who knows? ๐ค
@Paulxx001 Yes, user-typed emojis WITHIN a comment or a post have always been available. I'm talking about the "reaction" at the end of the post where you click and have a limited selection of reactions available. That just got added a couple of years ago.
And, of course it did retroactively get added as an option on the older posts that were converted and brought over as history when Community went live. It just seems odd that someone would bother to go back that far and bestow a like, let alone twelve people.
@smartasswoman it's possible that downloaded elsewhere and added like would a picture? I wasn't here then. Does seem like a mystery
I think the bots did it. If in doubt, I always blame the bots!
Good theory! (I left the heart eyes emoji just for ha-has)
