Looks like nice time
hello September!
That looks delicious!!!!!! Also, I'd like to have a flower wall like that.... but I'm sure I'd have to vacuum it more often than I do my carpets, and THAT'S not going to happen!
Yes, any kind of high maintenance decor like that would NOT be for me. It was rather delightful to experience it in someone else's space though!
The restaurant looks adorable. Your dish looks SO sweet. Hugs!
It was quite a treat. I don't usually order anything that sinful, but seeing as that's pretty much all there was on the menu...
What a cute cafe!! That sugar high...looks so yummy.....but Yikes !! Its so refreshing to see the rules followed, rather than wanting to be an exception. Ya....i feel like big brother knows all our stuff too. Im just gonna hold out, not help him any further and pray....he doesnt. lol
Haha I think I get your reference to someone wanting to be an exception. Once I learned that it was about needing to have enough info to hold the blogger accountable for copyright violations, I understood it. I didn't like it, but I got it.
The honey toast started at a disco Tokyo during the bubble era. The souffle pancake is a creation by a cafe in Osaka. Since they became so popular in Japan, I'm guessing they made their way to other parts of Asia.
As long as I'm working where I'm working now, I'm holding off on the ConfirmID thing until the data is not stored in the site's database.
Totally understand that. If I were still working, I would NOT have done the ConfirmID process. I was trying to hold off, hoping maybe it would make a statement if a lot of us refused to do it, but, what can I say, I'm impatient.
Yeah I do understand that some people’s jobs could be at risk if they were found out, and I’m not discounting that in anyway.
We do live in a world where data privacy is a joke.
That shortcake…where the pancakes eggy? Every time I’ve had soufflé pancakes, they were too eggy for me.
Yes, it's everyone's own decision, and I get the concerns that other people have. Since I'm no longer working, and my parents are gone, it's not really a catastrophic situation if I get outed.
I didn't notice any pronounced egginess but it was probably being masked by the mass quantities of whipped cream, haha!
That dish looks delectable!!!
It was almost TOO sweet. Or maybe just too big. Like I said, I could see splitting it with someone.
@smartasswoman I would eat half in a heartbeat, but I don't need that much sugar.😯
I can only imagine how she makes a go of it with such a slow turnaround.
Although, your choice looks fabulous. 🍓
And I'm guessing (like me), that laser tattoo FFA dotted to your retina barely hurts after the first hour.
So... do you feel free?
I too, wondered if they can be making any money. But…the prices are highish for what is basically a large dessert…$16 for some of the pancake creations.
Free doesn’t quite describe it, although it’s a relief to be able to stop working on deleting photos from the last couple years. I wasn’t getting anywhere with that project.
@smartasswoman
OK... That's pricy for a pancake and chocolate. 😂
I was wondering when you would give up on that fruitless adventure. 👍
All us "Confirmed" meet once a year for a bash.
We're thinking Vegas... this year. 😎
Hummmm, I've certainly considered it! You KNOW how much posting pictures means to me. But, right now anyway, I'm trending the other direction, away from this place entirely. That may change as some of these other summer projects wrap up and the long cold evenings of fall and winter intrude.
YAH,that's a lot of pink! Do your friends in the dining-out meet-up group know your posting them on a sex site? 🤣
Yeah, I'll admit, I've been losing motivation to post lately, myself. We'll see if having picture capability back makes a difference.
And, good question. Who says those are my friends - maybe they're just random diners who happened to be in front of the flower wall! (but yeah - I'll probably remove that one in a day or so).
I edited the photo to make it even cutesier, lol.
@smartasswoman Ha, I see. I just go with the smile watercolor brush mask to blot out faces. And yeah, you really pinked this up even more!
Great pics. That desert looks delicious and must have more calories than you consume in a day! But hey, we all deserve to treat ourselves once in awhile.
When I did the ConfirmID, I opted for the AI age verification. It was quite, easy and I was happy to not provide personal ID. I haven’t had any issues posting pics or content.
Hmmmm...so you just did age verification? I thought we had to do the full ID verification to have the picture limitations be removed. Maybe you are being allowed to post pics because you don't have more than 500 since 1/1/23?
Is having desert, and eating desert the same thing? Because I will be disappointed if it's like you can't have your cake, and eat it too😛🤐
“Dessert”. 😊
Well it is great to know finally that you are really you....just kidding of course. I was confirmed back when I first came to AFF in 2007 and am sure the process was pretty darn simple. I don't think I would have done it if I had had to give away much personal information for them to store. Anyway glad you are free to post pictures to your heart's content now! Dessert speaks sweetness. I take it they have a full Vietnamese menu? Where in the Cities?
I had to upload pics of my drivers license, which did give me a bit of a pause. Oh well, it’s done now. 🤷♀️
It actually isn’t a full menu, it’s 90% dessert-type dishes. They did have eggs Benedict (with a couple of the soufflé pancakes instead of English muffins) if you wanted to eat something that wasn’t a sugar bomb. It’s on Grand Ave in St Paul - the Thirty Six Cafe.
Is a nice place!
Aura! So nice to see you!
@smartasswoman Oh, hello! Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I decided to come back because Spunky mentioned that Andrew had taken the reins of the Community again and was fixing the previous mess, including, and most importantly, providing an age verification system without requiring sensitive data, using the YOTI app. Although for now, they still ask for verification with a copy of an official document for bloggers who want to upload more than 500 photos, I hear they’re considering changing that too (let’s hope they do!). So, I’ve created a new profile and started a new blog from scratch. It’s such a joy to see old friends like you here again.
Warm regards,
Aura.
@AuraAviatik6 that is excellent news. 😊 Welcome back.
I also caved in and confirmed ID. Here, there's legislation, which once comes into force, will mean I'll have to do the same. It's the way the tide is going. And I'm not so sure I object to the flow of the tide. Age-verification and ID-confirmation don't seem unreasonable hurdles to jump over.
Age verification makes sense to me - especially on this site and especially since they seem to have developed a method that doesn't require showing an ID.
ID verification...I'm not so sold on. I'm not using the site for dating purposes so I feel no need to "prove" that I'm not pretending to be someone else. But when it came down to it, it was more important to be able to post pictures than to take a stand lol.
