Haven't posted for a while, here's a few updates.
Earlier this month I went to see Cyndi Lauper in concert. A few months ago good friend of mine K., who now lives in Colorado, texted a group of us saying "Guess what? I got Cyndi Lauper tickets and we're all going!" Mostly we were excited about seeing K. since she doesn't get back to the Twin Cities very often. A reunion of our little crew from the 80's. Gah! That was 40 years ago.
Well, the day before the concert, K. texted that she had come down with the flu and was canceling her plane ticket. 😭 At that point people started dropping out. A: I have a doctor's appointment the morning after the concert. L: I just don't feel like going but maybe I'll join you for dinner. Another friend she had invited who isn't really part of our group was just plain out of communication. I actually wasn't feeling it either, but jeez, I felt guilty for all of the money K. shelled out on tickets, so I was going. We pulled in one new addition and ended up with three of us going. OH let me add that it was the coldest night we've had in a long time - single digits F with a nasty wind chill.
It was a big fancy production. I wasn't familiar with a lot of the songs since basically I know three of four of her hits. And I've never seen the movie The Goonies haha! She did a song from that with a video from the movie playing in the background.
All went well until about 2/3 of the way through, when she started to lose her voice and re-started a song three times. Everybody in the crowd was shouting encouraging things - our cranky little group was grumbling "give it up and do a different song, Cyndi". Finally she moved on. A bit later she did Time After Time and brought out special guest Lucinda Williams, which was a nice little surprise.
Here's one of the crappy Jumbotron pictures I took. Her hair varied from aqua to bright yellow to white during the show, thanks to the magic of quick wig changes backstage.
What else.... we had a Daytimers party a couple of days after that where I played with my regular play partner K. You know how I have always maintained that there isn't much (if any) actual sex at our parties? It is allowed, but people just haven't made that the focus. Well we have a new couple who has had sex the last couple of parties. The first one, they did it in a side room, but this last time it was in the main big dungeon area. In fact they were very nearby when I was topping K. and it was super distracting. Not in a good way. I did not enjoy the guy's sex patter.
As I said to one of my fellow moderators later - it bothered me, and then I moved on to feeling bothered about the fact that I was bothered. 😂 I guess I've just become a sex negative old prude.
Then I got together with some friends for Christmas tea at a British pub. I know I know spunky - I'm sure in England the pubs don't serve high tea. This place has to be all British things to all people. When we walked in, there was a super rowdy group watching a football (soccer) game and singing loudly. The tea was held upstairs, away from the mayhem. We enjoyed the carolers roaming around between tables.
Last weekend was the annual pizza party for my friend group that goes out to dinner together once a month. L. always makes eight or nine small pizzas for us with various creative toppings.
The following day was Friendsgiving at the home of my fellow Daytimers moderators. Oh, and tonight, a retirement party for my former boss! Should be interesting to see the old crew who I haven't seen for several years.

I've never seen that Lauper vid but I've seen The Goonies movie bunches of times ... there are no songs in it.
Interesting! It must have been some kind of cross promotion where they figured they'd use movie scenes as the background of the music video to get Cyndi Lauper fans to go to the movie?
I was a HUGE Cyndi Lauper fan back in the day. I haven't followed her as much in recent years, but she defined my childhood. I had all the neon in late grade school. LOL Glad you went and didn't waste the concert tix even if she wasn't 100 percent. Sounds like you have been busy with all sorts of being out and about. Hope you have a nice holiday.
There were many many people in the audience wearing neon clothes and crazy hair. It was so fun to see! Hope you have a happy holiday as well!

It can be disheartening when a singer isn't able to perform at the high level for which they were once renowned.
Yes - we did feel bad for her. She seemed really determined to do that particular song!
Thanks for the update.....and yes, finally snow. I was to make a WI pickup today but only made it to the WI border....at the speed I was moving it was going to take twice as long to make the trip.
I haven’t been out on the roads yet. 😊. Nice thing about being retired, one can decide to just stay in and wait until everything is plowed and salted.

Afternoon tea is popular in Japan. The best I've gone to so far was one at a Chinese restaurant. It was pretty good.
I enjoyed it. It was spendy though. Probably something I'd only want to splurge on once a year or so.
High tea is served here, mainly in tea shops, stately homes and upmarket hotels.
Like you, I find the sex patter of others very distracting and even annoying.

Of the three pictures, y is in my opinion the best looking one. I like the way the lighting is given you skin tone more how of a natural color. Plus you attractive body shape

Unfortunately I had to drive to downtown. Wasn’t bad. But I had to clean driveway. Snow removal service was late. That wasn’t fun at all.
But that’s Minnesota. 😱
@EnyojLife I had nowhere I had to be, plus got help from two sources. HWD did a quick pass of part of the driveway before he left for work. And my neighbor used his snowblower on my front sidewalk right before I came out to get that. The front sidewalk is usually my top priority so walkers are able to get through.

City cleaned street and there was knee high mountain of snow. Luckily snow wasn’t heavy. My back thankfully still doesn’t hurt
@EnyojLife ah yes, the dread plow pile! The plow hasn't come through our alley yet, probably sometime tonight. I tried to clear out a ways from the end of the driveway so hopefully it won't be so big tomorrow morning.
