HWD has a couple of weeks off for winter break at school. AND, his daughters are out of the country with their mom, so we've had a bit more time to spend together. A few days ago he asked me, "Will you tie me up this week?" Last night we decided to go for it - right after dinner, before we got too tired haha. While he was in the shower, I perused an e-book that I got a while ago - Two Knotty Boys Showing You the Ropes. By the way, I don't particularly recommend the book. It is very much centered around the idea that rope tops are men. All of the models pictured are skinny women wearing stiletto heeled leather boots - and in fact many of the foot ties seem to assume that the rope bottom will be wearing stiletto heels. Meh. Plus a lot of the pictures don't do a great job of illustrating the step by steps. I think finding videos online is the way to go, even though it's kind of a pain to stop and re-start them as you try to follow along.
Anyway, I decided it would be fun to try tying HWD to a chair. Our usual thing has been spread eagled on the bed, which is fun, but I figured I should try something new. I started with a rope shackle around the wrists, wound the rope around the back leg of the chair, then brought it forward and tied his ankles to the front legs of the chair. Here's a side view:
This was a pretty effective restraint. The one down side was that he was able to grip his arms against his sides and effectively block me from getting to the best tickle spots in his arm pits. But, as you can see, I think he enjoyed himself.
In case you're wondering, my bedroom is quite cold. Next time maybe I'll run the space heater for a while before starting...

I recently wrote the post about December's Kinky Friday at the Gay 90's in Minneapolis. I didn't mention the last act we stayed for. That book sounds like just the reason I make a wrinkly-nose face when it comes to ropes... it makes it seem like it's only thin women with high heels and "I AM A DOM BECAUSE I SAY I AM" kind of dudes.
Fortunately, I now know differently... at the kink club in DC there was this absolutely tiny little woman handling the ropes and she had some very large people strung up using pulleys! She had her own rig and she made some gorgeous, not sure what the term is, hoisting outfits! It looked effortless and was fun to watch!

The rope group that I went to a couple of times is pretty progressive in their demographics, they do have women rope tops. Although I felt like there was still a definite bias toward "rope bunnies" being women.

I just looked up when the book was published - 2006. I feel like we've come a ways since then, in terms of kink not always being defined as a cis male master and a female sub wearing stiletto boots. In fact, I just went looking on Youtube and found a fun chair tie that was demoed by a younger gay guy and his older boyfriend. Boyfriend was "daddy" but the young guy turned the tables on him and tied him up.

I was pleased with how it turned out. Often when tying him to the bed, he doesn't feel like the ropes are taut enough. There weren't any comments about that this time.

The rope is from a company called Chromaknotz (can be found on the web ). I like it. A rope snob might turn up their nose at it since it's nylon - I guess the "serious" ropesters prefer something like hemp or jute. But it is a good choice for a beginner like me.
