I have to laugh, because otherwise... I'd go crazy.
My yoga class last Tuesday was pretty tough - we spent half of it doing variations on crescent lunge, which I hate because I have bad balance and being on my tippy toes on my back leg makes me feel like I'm gonna fall over. I actually did wipe out once - only the fact that I was next to the wall kept me from falling on my ass. Anyway, I was feeling a bit grumpy by the end and was thinking about some mild griping to the teacher when I realized that focusing on not falling down had prevented me from thinking about American fuckery even once. Yeah, I think I need to keep going to yoga...
I put down a deposit on a yoga retreat in Mexico next January. My fave yoga teacher does two weeks there every year. The past couple years I looked at his Insty posts with envy, so when he put out the call for registrations for next year I decided to go for it.
In other news, the bike tour director got in touch with me last week, said that my predecessor SAG coordinator (the one with an ailing husband) had officially resigned for good, and asked if I would do it again. Clever of her to wait until the memory of some of the worst parts has faded. 😅 I said yes. Had my first steering committee meeting today and things are a little tense already. The registration volunteers are eager to start getting information out, but the director hasn't been able to nail down a location for the tour because some of the towns aren't interested in hosting us.
Finally, here is my hat done in brioche style knitting. It's amazingly reversible, I love it! It did take four false starts before I got the hang of it. I'm not sure I'm ready to try a sweater. It's time consuming because every row gets knitted twice - once with the main color and then a second time with the contrast color.

The maps are funny. Looking back at the flurry of signed executive orders, the Gulf of America one seems the most reasonable and I'm not for one moment think it's reasonable!

Yeah, this is more similar to what life was like right after I retired. My goal then was to travel as much as I could afford (and could stand - because the long trips do get to be tiring for me).
The pandemic interrupted that and I started to have different feelings about travel...but maybe I'm getting a bit of my mojo back. I think I'll be doing more things like this yoga week, and fewer "touristy" trips.
Cool hat. You did too good a job last year on the bike tour. You are going to keep moving up. I know how much you want that to happen.
I didn't feel like I did that great - I'm not exactly "unflappable" in situations like the bike crash that happened. Hopefully this next time will go a bit better.
@smartasswoman practice makes perfect. With several jobs I had over the years had many days that started with a phone call and then spend hours dealing with that one phone call. You thought about what to do and did it. That is what makes a difference. Someone that sits and does nothing, does just that, nothing.
I have entirely too many hats and caps for someone who doesn't wear them, but I'd totally add that one to my collection, that pattern looks so fascinating!
I know what you mean about hat overload! 😂 I tend to knit hats as a "palate cleanser" after knitting something big like a sweater. So I have a large collection. I try to give them away periodically but they do accumulate.

I almost did end up flat on my back. 😂 I can kinda do the basic version (the top one) if it's just a static pose, but he had us moving our arms around to different positions which made me quite unsteady.

For me the main impediment is balance. Some days I've got it, other days... not so much.

It was billed as a beginner pattern (for beginners to brioche, anyway - I think a total newbie to knitting would struggle). And I think it was just right. There was enough complexity to keep it interesting but not so much as to overwhelm.
