Oh @smartasswoman, you're from St. Paul. One of my favorite recent bits of news comes from Minneapolis. The people of the city of Minneapolis have been officially nominated for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
It warms my heart to know how this news must affect the current occupant of the oval office.
It really should be the people of the Twin Cities. 😊 But no I’m not bitter! LOL. Good for Minneapolis.
@smartasswoman Just so it sticks in his craw... lol
It's very telling that he can't pronounce most non-English words, but when he refers to not being aware of the book "Mein Kampf" he properly pronounces both German words in the title.
A man goes to the newspaper stand every morning. He looks at the front pages, grunts, and walks away. He does this day after day.
One day the newsstand man says, "What are you looking for?"
He says, "An obituary."
The newsstand man says, "Obituaries wouldn't be on the front page."
The man says, "This one will be."
😆😁😄
Irving Berlin's song is very much needed now!
I'm sure he never envisioned it being repurposed in this way.
@smartasswoman I agree. I've had to rethink my beliefs since the rise of the far right (and I'm including MAGA in that category). I naively thought that fascism had been defeated, though without racism being defeated. I thought science was the enlightened way forward, but climate change suggests science hasn't won. I thought liberal, cosmopolitan multiculturalism was increasingly a universal idea, but the debates about migration suggest it's far from universal. I've now stopped believing that the future will be or has to be better. My only consolation is that I'll be dead when the real shit hits the fan.
@spunkycumfun 😟
I grew up doing what TMBG did when my siblings and i were kids. Although not as big as they made them, still the concept was there. If I had the materials that they did, geeze. It was fun being able to create things with cardboard and masking tape. Nowadays, we have foamcore board and CA glue and accelerator. It was so much fun creating things from ones imagination.
Today, that desire to create has transform to my current hobby which is 3D printing.
I’ve maybe shared this with you before, but my partner works at a summer camp where the kids make things out of cardboard. Kids love it! The registrations fill up in a snap every year.
@smartasswoman No I didn't know but I bet it is not only fun for the kids but for him as well.
@CallMeMrWrong69 it is, I suspect he enjoys it a lot more than his “regular” job that’s the other nine months of the year.
Like you, no comment.
Well chosen ... especially the second one!
