Except for a few days last month, the British summer has been lousy. It's rained a lot and the sun has hardly shone. On a few days this month I even had to wear a jumper, sweater to my American friends.
How is your summer (or winter if living in the Southern Hemisphere) going?
Normally I'd have had a couple of barbecues by now but the barbecue grill is still gathering rust at the bottom of my garden. Normally my grandkids would be splashing around in the hot tub every time they'd come round but the hot tub is uncleaned in the middle of my garden. But this isn't a normal summer.
Just in case the summer picks up I've compiled my list of cool people, whether dead or alive, to invite to my first barbecue this year.
On the cool invitation list for my first barbecue are: Audrey Hepburn, Paul Newman, Naomi Klein, Echo & the Bunnymen's Ian McCulloch, Joan Rivers, Roxy Music's Bryan Ferry, Anna Friel, The Cure's Robert Smith, Rachel Weisz (Mrs James Bond), Chic's Nile Rodgers, Roberta Flack, Robert Palmer, Debbie Harry, David Bowie, Absolutely Fabulous's Joanna Lumley, Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Top Cat and Lara Croft (just to keep each other company), Kaja Kallas the Estonian prime minister, and Henry Winkler, Happy Days' Fonz - who has ever been cooler than Fonzie?
That would be one cool barbecue, though I don't think many people would talk to me unless I was in charge of the barbecue grill. Above are three photos, all including Angela Markel, the former Chancellor of Germany, in her younger naturist days. And below is a conversation I had with Angela Merkel as I served up her barbecue plate, plus a photo of me half-naked at the barbecue in a Prince Fielder pose!
"Fancy an English sausage with mayonnaise, Angela?"
"Nein danke, ich nehme stattdessen eine deutsche Bratwurst mit Mayonnaise."
"Here's a Bratwurst with and an English cucumber thrown in and mayonnaise for after."

Angela Merkel then eagerly gobbles my Bratwurst and cucumber with mayonnaise as afters. I can vouch that she swallows!

I too love the vintage pics. In this country having a naturist past would prevent ban one from political success per Evangelical Idiots. How that squares with Grab them by the pussy. I cannot figure out.
I noticed that in the last vintage picture the second woman from the right appears to have gotten a later start on her all over tan.
The USA sure needs more Naturist camps and parks.
Europeans, at least West Europeans, have a healthy attitude towards public nudity.

BBQs in Japan is fried noodles (yakisoba) and grilled seasoned meat (yakiniku), quite different from how it’s done in the west
That is different. I've never had noodles at a barbecue.

@spunkycumfun i travel a lot for work and can be in a location for months. Sitting around a hotel on my day off is not for me so it gets me out and exploring the area. Everyone I have ever met through it is very cool.

The "heat dome" has been impacting both coasts but summer here has been quite mild, only a few days over 100, and none over 105 so far.
Heat waves seem increasingly prevalent in America, Europe and elsewhere.
