Trying to make us hungry. Are a couple of shops in town where make purchases. Rarely eat them, however do like. The classic best from the French Market in New Orleans
I've heard of the Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans though I don't know why.
@spunkycumfun have previously mentioned. It is famous
@bignicktx I suspect I read about the cafe on one of your travelogue blog posts.
@spunkycumfun that, and on one of your polls about coffee
@bignicktx All very probable.
You haven't included my favorited donut, but I picked cream, powdered sugar with white cream, not custard, never custard. I'm not even sure what white cream is, I guess it's closest to icing or whipped frosting, it's not whipped cream.
What are your most and least favourite doughnut fillings/toppings?My favorite donut is a chocolate Bismark, or Pershing, or Persian, or chocolate cinnamon roll or bun. Unlike a cinnamon bun, it's fried not baked and then topped with chocolate, vanilla, or even strawberry frosting. Some shops glaze them, which ruins them in my opinion, but I'll take that if the choice in not having one. The Amish donut shop in the farmers' market never had them until I explained what they are, they always seem to sell out first. If there are no Bismarks in the case, I'll pass up the donuts entirely. I was pleased to see Bismarks in the case at Mullica Hill, NJ Amish Market, I didin't have the heart to tell the man working there the glaze is too much. But it was nice of him to research Bismarks and find a recipe.
"Persian donuts are no old-world treats; In fact, they aren't even from modern-day Iran — they are unlike any other doughnut you'd find around the world! While the exact details of its invention are lost with time, what's known is that the donut was created by Thunder Bay, Canada, resident, Art Bennett, at his namesake bakery in the 1940s. According to local stories, Bennett was working on a new donut one day when in came General John Joseph Pershing — an American World War I General visiting Thunder Bay from the naval base in Duluth, Minnesota a few hours away. The General and the owner soon got talking. Though no one knows the details of that conversation, one can only assume it was riveting because, by the end of it, Bennett had decided to name his new donut after the visitor. And so the Persian donut (inspired by Pershing) came to be."

How regularly do you eat doughnuts? Not very often at all and I'll only buy one, or two if I share.
Do you make or have you made your own doughnuts? I never have, but my mother used to make Fastnachts once a year.
Fasnacht Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday, is a Pennsylvania Dutch tradition celebrated on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. It marks the day before the start of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting and penance for many Christians. The day is celebrated by consuming fasnachts, a type of deep-fried pastry, to use up ingredients like lard, sugar, and butter before Lent begins. You do pancakes, instead. In Pennsylvania, many churches sell fasnachts for the start of lent.
I almost forgot, my least favorite donut toppings would be bacon and maple sugar, or breakfast cereal.
My poll only listed single-flavours of doughnut fillings/toppings. There's no way I could compile a poll covering all the different combinations.
I love bacon but not with a doughnut.
@spunkycumfun I understand, but I just wanted to mention it because I think it may be only known regionally and not at all globally. Had you ever heard of them? I doubt you've ever heard of a Fastnacht, translation "the eve of the fast" and are regional to Pennsylvania, and then only in and a bit around the Pennsylvania Dutch community. I love bacon too but definitely not on top of a donut.
@joisygirl I've never heard of those doughnuts. As you know, we don't do fancy doughnuts here!
I have to say my favorite is an old fashioned, glazed or chocolate they are so good.
Such a great donut battle here. I hope you enjoy a fantastic Friday, and it's a fun start to your weekend..
I think the battle of the doughnuts is going to be a very close one.
Just a regular fresh baked glazed doughnut, nothing fancy.
Doughnuts here are quite simple. Americans seem to like their fancy doughnuts.
@spunkycumfun I'm pretty basic, just give me the best high quality ingredients and don't fuck it up, LoL
@GtrPlyr1977 Us Brits will fuck a doughnut up!
@spunkycumfun British cuisine is not as bad as the French would lead the rest of the world to believe.
@GtrPlyr1977 British cuisine has improved over the decades. It's no longer meat and two veg. Ironically British cuisine is very influenced by French cuisine as well as American, Indian, Hong Kong and Jamaican cuisine.
I don’t think you’ll be surprised if I tell you that donuts are as foreign to my life as religion is
… I don’t think I’ve ever eaten one.
Maybe I should’ve added that to the list of things I’ve never done.
I think being involved in an orgy will be far more than eating a doughnut!
@spunkycumfun Of course!!!!
Apple Fritters probably fall into this category; however after that it's cream
Two good choices. Thanks for stopping by.
I don't eat dough nuts
I wish I didn't eat so many doughnuts!
Cream of some young girl/guy.
Thanks for stopping by.
Paczki which are usually people line up at various bakery's in the greater Detroit area for them on Fat Tuesday,powdered generally filled with various fruit fillings such as lemon, strawberry blueberry, apple and custard. 700 calories per lol. Yum!
Pączki sound divine. Thanks for stopping by to comment.
My current fav is a cake like donut with simple cinnamon sugar. Yum.
Cinnamon is great on a doughnut and other cakes too.
When I used to eat chocolate, a chocolate donut was the best! I hardly ever eat donuts now, since they're deep fried. But when I get a craving for just one, it's got apple pie filling on it. Mmmm
An apple pie filling is a great choice for a doughnut.
Back when I was a donut eater, it was bavarian cream filled. Chocolate was second. I do not have the talent to make donuts, or any other baked item.
I've had Chantilly cream in my doughnuts but never Bavarian cream.
You mean to jerk off with wrapped around my cock or pushed in a woman’s pussy and eaten and fucked out? Either way Bavarian kreme
What a stupid comment.
@spunkycumfun I never heard of that. I have heard men say they could carry 6 donuts and a cup of coffee in each hand though.
@joisygirl yeah I can do that too I’m multi talented
@joisygirl He's a stupid MAGA troll, not worth wasting your breath on!
@spunkycumfun Oh well, I'm not bothered.
I think you could carry more than a half dozen donuts and two cups of coffee yourself.
@joisygirl At least and on my cock only! Will you be watching the military parade?
@spunkycumfun No... not at all.... I was at a NO Kings protest in Millville, NJ instead. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay long due to the smoke from the wildfire, 50 miles to the north east. We left Millville to go to Philadelphia but ended up watching the protest on television, because the air quality was not likely much better. If you see any of the videos on the East Coast, everything is hazy from smoke, even in Washington D.C. (https://www.cbsnews.com/philadelphia/news/smoke-smell-philadelphia-new-jersey-wildfire/) The speed limit on Interstate 55 is 65 mph but had slowed to 10 mph due to poor visibility.
@joisygirl There were a lot of no kings protesters. The military parade looked rather amateurish from the bits I saw. Trump needs to learn some lessons from Putin!
@spunkycumfun He's already learned enough from him and Orban!
@joisygirl He should stop learning!
@spunkycumfun I agree
Being a Canadian, I likely bring the average down as I have fewer than a donut a week. And, I just can't vote for a favourite; I love most of them. Easier to vote least favourite: banana or any cream filled. Last donuts I ate were Apple Fritters, for what that's worth.
Apple fritter doughnuts sound great.
I voted cinnamon, but my actual favorite is a cake donut with maple frosting on top.
I love cinnamon too. I've never heard of a cake doughnut. I thought a doughnut is a cake!
@spunkycumfun there are two kinds of doughnuts, what’s called a raised doughnut vs. a cake doughnut. From the internets:
Cake Donuts: They are denser and have a cake-like texture, hence the name. They are often a bit crumbly and have a firmer bite.
– Raised Donuts: These donuts are lighter and more airy due to the action of yeast, which causes the dough to rise. They have a chewier texture compared to cake donuts.
@smartasswoman We have round, sub-shaped and ring-shaped doughnuts here. Usually we have a choice of cream, jam or chocolate as a filling or topping. We don't do much choice here.
😮😮😮 No glazed donut option?? 😮😮
I counted a glaze as a topping. There are different glazes, eg honey, syrup.
Perhaps it's a sign of age but more and more I have trouble accommodating the rush of these "sugar bombs". IF I partake at all now, it's after eating something else first.
My favorite used to be Boston Cream ones, just like the pie, chocolate topping and filled with creme.
America has a much bigger range of doughnuts than we do here. There aren't many doughnut shops here.
