Peanuts:
In THE BATTLE OF THE TOAST TOPPINGS, butter won, with peanut butter, jam/jelly and cheese coming next in the poll on toast toppings.
Now it's the turn of peanuts to do battle. Peanuts are sometimes called goober peas, goobers, groundnuts, monkey nuts and pindars. Though not botanical nuts, peanuts are widely regarded as culinary nuts.
According to America's National Peanut Board, there are four main types of peanuts - namely, Runner, Spanish, Valencia and Virginia peanuts.
China is the biggest producer of peanuts in the world, followed by India, Nigeria, America and Sudan. China is also the biggest consumer of peanuts in the world, consuming over three times the peanuts as India in second place. That's my peanut knowledge exhausted!
This poll is only concerned with peanuts eaten as snacks, often as bar snacks. It isn't concerned with other culinary uses of peanuts, such as peanut brittle, peanut butter, peanut oil, peanut sauce (eg satay sauce) and peanut stew (eg maafe).
I love peanuts. My most favourite peanuts are candied, chilli, cracker, dry roasted, honey-roasted, salted, and sweet chilli sauce-coated peanuts, with chocolate-coated peanuts being the best to snack on. I love M&M's though they used to be called Treats here. Likewise, Marathon, a peanut-based chocolate bar, became Snickers here to fit in with America.
Chocolate peanuts:
My least favourite peanuts are barbecue-flavoured, curry-flavoured, and salt and vinegar peanuts, with steak-flavoured peanuts being the worst peanut to eat. I cannot believe any steak is used to flavour such peanuts.

I always have salted peanuts in my pantry to snack on regularly. And my favourite food dish containing peanuts is beef rendang - the peanut-based satay sauce is divine. Though I like peanuts, I don't like like peanut butter - it's far too filling for me.

Salted peanuts are always on standby in my home.
Hmmm, I suspect you would love salty nuts with hot fudge dribbled over them as an appetizer before tackling a bit of savory sausage.
A few salted peanuts with a bite of any chocolate caramel is absolutely deelish!
Peanuts + chocolate + caramel = Snickers (or Marathon)!

Yep, but the home made variety is saltier, sugar and salt, ideal for walking up a hill!
I voted for salted peanuts though honey roasted came in second. For some reason I do not think of chocolate coated peanuts as peanuts so much as a candy that features peanuts. I love Snickers bars but a Baby Ruth bar (Nougat rolled in peanuts covered in milk chocolate) may be my favorite of the two. I will not eat peanuts coated in anything spicy. I consider unsalted peanuts fit only for cooking not snacking on. I admit I like peanuts as a snack but rarely buy or eat them.
I love Snickers bars though I still sometimes call them Marathon bars!

I didn't know there were so many flavours of peanuts until I compiled this post. Initially I thought this poll was down to salted, dry roasted, honey-roasted and chocolate-coated peanuts with the latter winning hands down. What little do I Know about peanuts!

I love honey roasted peanuts! I can also devour Cashew Chicken or Cashew Shrimp at Chinese restaurants.
I love cashew nuts too. They're my first go-to nut in a bag or jar of mixed nuts.
It was a tough choice as I alternate between eating dry-roasted and salted peanuts (still in their shell when purchased). But I went with dry-roasted as that is the variety I ate last night. Glad you didn't ask about Runner, Spanish, Valencia or Virginia peanuts since I have NO CLUE which kind I eat!!
Boiled peanuts are big in the southern US with stands all along highways selling them. I tried some once and they'd definitely be my least favorite kind.
I've never come across boiled peanuts until I compiled this poll.
@luoxana Having been raised in the Mid-Atlantic region, I agree with that last part of the statement for sure. 😀 (Though maybe mine weren't boiled with smoked meat.) I just didn't like the consistency more than anything else.

Not much of a consumer of peanuts. Most of ones consumed previously Planters, a company. Some salted ones at bars and roasted ones a few times. At first when saw thought might be giving DJT a difficult time due to his small peanut 🥜
I always avoid eating the peanuts in bowls on bar counters as i never whose hands have been in them!
