This couple was one of the last couples my partner and I met as a foursome. They were a farming couple from Shropshire; I am a son of my farming parents also from Shropshire. My brother took over my father's dairy farm.
We arranged to meet this couple in a quite expensive boutique hotel in Chester, a Roman walled city on the American tourist trail in this country, along with London, Bath, Belfast, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cambridge, Canterbury, Edinburgh, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and York - Motherwell, Port Talbot, Strabane and Wolverhampton don't stand a chance of attracting American tourists!
Called Deva in Roman times, Chester is also the county town of Cheshire, a county neighbouring Shropshire. We met the couple the day before I was due to visit my father then in a care home in Shropshire.
I was a little worried about meeting this couple as farmers generally know each other in the local area and I was hoping he didn't say that he knew my brother. It turned out he didn't know my brother nor my father. Relief!
On their profile, the couple stated that they don't play on the first meet. That was fine with us even though we were happy to play on the first meet.
Do you have a rule of not having sex on the first meet when meeting someone?
After a meal at the hotel restaurant and a few drinks at the hotel bar, my partner and I said goodbye to the couple and retired to our bedroom. The conversation flowed and they were both definitely above our lines to have sex with them.
About 20 minutes later, there was a knock on our bedroom door. It was the couple obviously changing their minds about not having sex on the first meet.
We invited them into our bedroom, fixed up some drinks from the minbar and soon we were having sex with each other. It turned out, perhaps not surprisingly, that it was their first time they had swapped partners. Sex was good for both my partner and I.
We met up again. This time they booked a hotel in Nottingham and after a meal and drinks, I invited them round to my apartment. This time the sex wasn't so good for us. I had great sex with the woman but the man seemed far more interested in watching his wife being pounded by me rather than pounding my partner.
We didn't meet them again as a foursome because both my partner and I liked to have sex when swinging together. They did attend one of our parties but I don't think they enjoyed the experience.

For the most part, I don't have sex on the first meet, but I have made exceptions, and in most cases, regretted it.
I no longer have a 'no-sex-on-the-first-meet' rule but I certainly don't presume sex on the first meat, quite the opposite in fact.
I generally don't have sex on a first meet ... but I have occasionally ... so I guess, it's just a guideline and not a rule. 😁
I much prefer guidelines over rules!
I used to break that rule every now and then, but these days it is fairly easy to keep it. Well, I haven't had a first meet with someone for a couple of years. But aside from that, the drop in my libido combined with the fact that I don't drink anymore has removed two sources of impulsive behavior.
I often set out with the rule of no sex on the first meet but it was often broken to the point I scrapped the rule!
I have to say no sex on the first date, and that's the way it's always been for me. Also if the date isn't a good kisser there would never be another date either. I am a very good kisser and I need that in a partner too. Long sessions of foreplay lead to great sexual adventures I have to say.
I am glad that he didn't know your family as you were all farmers. And I am sorry the other guy was only interested in watching for the most part and not satisfying your partner he second time you all met.

At one point in my life, around the age of 45, I had this rule about not having sex on the first date, but I broke it so many times that I eventually scrapped it to stop fooling myself

The only time I met as part of a couple with another couple, we did not have sex that day, but did get together with them from some swapping the next day.
We didn't have a 'no-sex-on-first-meet' rule but many others did. One of the main reasons for that rule is that it allows the couple to discuss things before taking things forward or not. It's not so easy discussing in front of another couple. My partner and I had a code or sometimes just a look to communicate our next move.
