I used to get quite turned on when she regaled me with her tales of group sex, usually her and men. In a bar I asked her whether she could arrange a foursome for us. And what I meant at the time was another man and woman to join us for sex. She said she could arrange that, and so she did.

Perhaps prematurely, I called a halt to the proceedings and suggested the other couple went home. The threesome seemed to be working but the brooding presence of the fourth uninvolved person was a dampener on things.

I have tried to persuade someone to have sex with me, usually an ex, because I wanted back with them or I just wanted a shag. I soon realised that neither reason was a good reason.
This swinging moment brings to mind the maths of swinging, or the math of swinging as Americans will say. Mathematics is plural not singular, so it should be maths not math.
If two single people, say A and B, meet for sex, there is just one relationship between A and B. If three people meet up to have sex, say A, B and C, there are three relationships. And if four people meet up to have sex, as in this moment, there are six relationships. If four people, there are six; five people, ten relationships; and six people fifteen relationships.
When swinging it only needs one of the relationships not to work and swinging is unlikely to work. It's amazing that swinging ever works. The statistical odds are increasingly stacked against swinging the more people involved.

But seriously, you can't really persuade someone to have sex if they're not inclined. BUT convincing them to have sex WITH YOU when they're otherwise in the mood to have sex in general is a different challenge, and a quite fun one.
This story brings up a question about the transitive properties of sex. If you pick-up a girl in a bar, and she then picks-up another man, and the three of you leave together - did you pickup the man?
I guess it all depends what you get up to with the man.

I once tried to persuade a girl who was reluctant by lying about my age. She was 21, I was 18, she thought she was too old for me. Given how immature I was in the lie, she was probably right!

The answer to your question is yes. I have, on more than one occasion, tried to persuade men to have sex with me even when they were initially reluctant… and, to be honest, I’ve failed more often than I’ve succeeded.
As for what you said next, you’re absolutely right: the more people involved in a sexual encounter, the greater the chances that something will go wrong, and those risks grow exponentially.
