Shirley is a town in the West Midlands, not far from Birmingham. It was roughly halfway between Nottingham and Bristol. One couple from Bristol became good friends with my partner and I. We all got on well, especially socially. The other man and I would regularly phone each other just to chat. He also supplied me weed for a time.
They came to a few of our parties, though the last party they came to wasn't a good experience for me and perhaps them - see SWINGING MOMENT 35: THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE UNWASHED. She was the woman who I had led to a bedroom where my partner and others were having sex. We were shooed away because, as it turned out, she wasn't sufficiently attractive. As the unwashed we then went downstairs to have sex instead.
We perhaps worked better as a foursome than in a party. We met them many times in a Premier Inn in Shirley. Conversation was good and sex was also good. And it was always bareback sex.
The last time I met this couple was as a single man. We had a planned a meet as a foursome but my partner and I had split. The other couple were still keen to see me alone, so I went on my own to meet them.
The evening, as expected, was good. I was a little unclear whether sex was expected after the meal, or rather sex between me and the woman of the couple. Though I was up for that, I decided not to ask the couple thinking that if they wanted that, they'd ask me. So I went to bed on my own slightly frustrated.

This meet was a further reinforcement that my swinging days were over. I had more influence over swinging proceedings as a man of a couple than as a single man. I think, perhaps wrongly, a single man meeting a couple has to dance to the tune of the couple. His negotiating position isn't strong.
I think by now ex-partner was having withdrawal symptoms from swinging as a couple. After our split, she saw one of our swinging couple friends, the host and hostess of a very sexualised dinner party - see SWINGING MOMENT 29: MY BEST EVER DINNER PARTY. Initially I felt a little betrayed that our friends seemingly preferred my ex-partner over me but I got real by saying to myself that the cookie has to crumble; it's not as if the couple could invite my ex-partner and I together and I was presuming that they were doing the inviting and not my ex-partner.
I think it's very difficult for joint friends to remain friends with both of the couple who have split up, and vice versa. I can see the logic of taking sides, and when I say taking sides I don't mean that in a judgemental way as in right and wrong.
After my ex-partner's meet with that couple, she texted me saying that the bed seemed empty without me. That made feel very sad but I had to remind myself why I ended things with GIRLFRIEND 31!

Before the virus, I had male guests arrive in a Porsche Cayman or a Hardly, after a few visits he opened intimacy and sensual indulgence of a more personal. In my former LTR, he didn't really bring any prior friends into the relationship (what is with men who don't have close friends?). We became friendly with a couple of different athlete communities - an XC ski club, a bike club, and some folks who did triathlons. I think he dropped most of those activities since he had moved on to rock climbing as a passion.
Although I did hear a story about him coming on a summer bike ride with the XC ski group, and bringing along his new girlfriend. In fairly short order she fell behind. Men don't seem to do close friends like women very generally speaking.
As the single member of a swinging meet they chose you, and rightly so, as the bull. They knew what you were bringing to the table, well the bed, but your choosing to separate from the herd they perhaps thought it was too difficult for you. Nothing is more depressing than a sad bull.

@spunkycumfun You never get to know if you don't ask. I would have made a vague invitation like "would you two like to come to my room" and just let them decide what happened from there. Worst case, they say no, and the result is the same as what you ended up with. Plus too, if she was THAT "unwashed", what are the chances they'd say no to your offer? 😀
