Berry, detox green and tropical coconut milk smoothies:
In THE BATTLE OF THE SALAD INGREDIENT, lettuce won, with cheese, avocado, egg and tomatoes coming next in the poll on salad ingredients.
Now it's the turn of smoothies to do battle. This poll is about specific smoothie ingredients and not combinations of smoothie ingredients - smoothie mixes of ingredients would make for a very unmanageable poll. But apart from that proviso, anything goes. The poll includes both savoury and non-savoury smoothie ingredients. It's a free-for-all, a smoothie orgy if you like!
My most favourite smoothie ingredients are avocados, bananas, beetroot, carrots, cucumber, ginger, guava, ice cream, kiwi fruit, mango, melon, oats, papaya, peaches, pears, raspberries, rocket, sorbet, spinach and strawberries, with kale being the best smoothie ingredient. I never ever thought I'd choose kale as one of my favourite foods!
Banana kale smoothie:
My least favourite smoothie ingredients are courgette, fennel, liquorice and peppers, with celery being the worst smoothie ingredient. There have been many ingredients that I've not tried in a smoothie and many that I wouldn't want to try. I would never drink a smoothie made from meat or fish.
What are your most and least favourite smoothie ingredients?
What ingredients make for your perfect smoothie?
Do you regularly make smoothies?
I've never made a smoothie. But there was a smoothie I used to buy from the the University of Nottingham's Students' Union shop that I enjoyed drinking on the number 34 bus back home. The smoothie was a mix of kale and banana, and maybe a few other ingredients. It was refreshingly delicious to drink after a hard day at the office.
Below is a poll in which you can anonymously select your most favourite smoothie ingredient.
Unfortunately only one pick is allowed in the poll. If you don't like smoothies, please don't vote but please do comment even just to say you don't like smoothies.
Given almost any food and drink, including all fruits and vegetables and, perhaps at a push, all meats and fish, can be thrown into a smoothie and because a poll on this site can only have a maximum of 20 answer options, unfortunately there was no room as poll options for: almonds, anchovies, apricots, artichoke hearts, aubergine/eggplant, bacon, barbecue sauce, basil, beans, beef, beer, bilberries, biscuits/cookies, blackberries, blackcurrants, bok choy, boysenberries, bread, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, butter, cabbage, cannabis, cape gooseberries, caramel/salted caramel, cashews, cassava, caviar, celery, cheese, cherries, chestnuts, chia seeds, chicken, chilli/chili peppers, chives, chocolate, cider, cinnamon, coconut, cod, coffee, collard greens, coriander/cilantro, courgette/zucchini, couscous, cranberries, cream, cress/watercress, custard, dandelion leaves, dates, duck, durum wheat, eggnog, eggs, farro, fennel, figs, flaxseeds, garlic, gin, ginger, ginseng, gnocchi, gold leaf, gooseberries, grapefruit, grapes, guava, ham, hazelnut cocoa spread (eg Nutella), honey, horseradish, hummus, ice, ice cream, kefir, kiwi fruit, kumquats, lamb/mutton, leeks, lemons, lentils, lettuce, limes, liquorice/licorice, loganberries, lokum/Turkish Delight, lychees, mackerel, marshmallow, mayonnaise, melon, mint, mushrooms, mustard, nettle leaves, nougat, nutmeg, okra/ladies' fingers, olives, onions, papaya, parsley, parsnip, passionfruit, pasta, pâté, peaches/nectarines, pears, peas, pepper powder (eg black pepper, white pepper), peppers/bell peppers, pistachios, plums/damsons/greengages, pomegranate, poppy seeds, pork, potatoes, plantain, praline, pumpkin, quince, quinoa, radish, ranch dressing, redcurrants, rhubarb, rice, rocket/arugula, rosemary, rose water, rum, saffron, salmon, salt, sangria, sardines/pilchards, satay sauce, sausage, sherbet, sorbet, sorghum, spring greens, starfruit, steak, sugar, sunflower seeds, swede/rutabaga, sweet corn/corn, sweet potatoes, syrup, tangerines, taramasalata, tatsoi, tea, tequila, toffee, tofu, tomatoes, trout, tuna, turkey, turmeric, turnip, tzatziki, vanilla, veal, venison, vinaigrette, vinegar, vodka, walnuts, water, water chestnuts, whisky/whiskey, wine, Worcestershire sauce and yams.
Hopefully I've covered all the popular smoothie ingredients as poll options because I never want 'other' to win a poll.
I'm going to stick my neck out and say that kale will will win this poll, but banana, mango, oats and spinach may have other ideas.
I want to thank @EnigmaInitiative for her help in compiling this poll. Obviously, any mistakes with the poll are my mistakes unless 'other' wins then it's the fault of my good friend! How I miss her not being in blogland!
Please see the first comment below to see what has won each battle of the food and drinks so far.

I voted for other as I have never had a smoothie. It's not my kind of thing. Thank you for another great battle.
I hope your Thursday continues to be filled with many fun and exciting thrills..
Smoothies aren't for everyone.
MIlk and vanilla, and "leche merengada"
I've not tried that combination in a smoothie.
@spunkycumfun No no, they are "two" different smoothies
@AuraAviatik6 I've got you now.
Bananas are the base of every smoothie I make, almost daily. Usually, I add a berry (strawberry or blue), some kind of milk, peanut butter and dark chocolate. I have used spinach in the past. I see now that there are far more ingredients that I knew of. I have to look into oats. I'm not sure I would add peppers or cauliflower.
Oats work well in a smoothie; they give it some thickness and density.

Blueberries are going to get even more popular.
Thanks for stopping by.
Mmm ..... Spunky, and now the health stuff, foods, (or drinks, cos guess a "smoothie" is a drink) are doing "battle"! Smoothies, in other words liquidized food to drink instead of eat, makes me recall how I had to liquidize my kids food when they were very young, but guess now that they are adults they can enjoy smoothies! Looking at your list, have to wonder and shudder at the thought of drinking cauliflower! Would like to try a berry smoothie though, looks like the most refreshing!
According to the internet, cauliflower is supposed to be a popular smoothie ingredient. I too was surprised.
When I make smoothies, yogurt is the base, then I'll add a variety of frozen fruit and tofu.
Yogurt makes for a great smoothie base.
I don't make smoothies. They sound interesting. Fun and fruity.
I too have never made a smoothie. I just buy and drink them!
My favorite is the ACE smoothie. It tastes fresh and delicious.
Apple, carrot, and orange, with a dash of oil.
It contains provitamin A, also known as beta-carotene in the carrots, vitamin C in the oranges and apples, and omega-3 fatty acids in the oil.
Add a little water so it's not too thick.
If you like, you can also add some ginger.
I've never had an ACE smoothie. A bit of ginger in a smoothie always goes down well with me.
Cherries. Had to check on rocket and don't think I would use that in a smoothie. Don't drink them too often but when I do it is something like frozen cherries, some cherry yogurt, some milk, maybe a few blueberries, etc. Hmm, maybe I should try some beets in a smoothie sometime or pineapple.
What we call rocket, I think you say arugula.
Beetroot (beet) certainly adds colour to a smoothie.
Pineapple makes your cum taste good
So they say, though I don't know whether it's true or not.
How can anyone prefer bananas over mangoes? But choosing any vegetable over any fruit is even crazier.
I'd have a hard time choosing between a banana and a mango, so I'd just throw both into the smoothie.
Thanks for stopping by.
Avacado but not guacamole. Incredibly rich and tasty.
I love avocado in a smoothie but, like you, I stop short at guacamole.
I Voted for Bananas....
However, any Fruit is Good!! 😋😊
Bananas are taking an early lead in the poll.
