I have never been married, I was always careful not to get anyone pregnant. They either got pissed off with me and left or I had had enough of them and by the time I was in my thirties I found the idea of not being married suited me and as I saw several friends divorcing and then doing the same thing again it reinforced the idea that I was the wise one. I have known couples that are on their 4th or 5th marriage.
There are many advantages of not being married!
OMG! Even the food was B&W?!!
I think the hotel's chef liked the challenge!
It's probably not a good sign when a major concern on your honeymoon is that you're missing out on the World Cup games on the telly.
It was a very badly timed honeymoon both in terms of the World Cup and the exam marking I had to do!
I got married in 1989. The morning of the wedding when I woke up, it finally hit me...I am getting married!!! I even got to the church later than the bride. The limo had to circle around awhile while I arrived and settled in.
Honeymoon the following day was to Jamaica and it was the worst time for me. Not the country itself, but things didn't go well with the bride. In hindsight, as I reflect upon what we went through, we were so not compatible. That relationship should have ended after two years and I hung into it for ten. Sometimes, you have to know when to cut your losses and flee a sinking ship.
It's often said that we stay in failing or failed relationships longer than we should.
@spunkycumfun Very true
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed your walk down memory lane!
The marriage didn't last long.
But the good memories still do! Life is all about memories, the older we get!
@JThom7899 Very true.
@spunkycumfun Even some that might have some bitterness attached, seem to mellow with age to something more pleasurable to the mind and heart.
@spunkycumfun That is ok. My marriage didn't last too long either. I was married maybe 2 years but didn't get married in the 1980's (I was still in my teens and in school then). We went to hot springs in Colorado for about 10 days for our honeymoon. So there a few scantily clad people there all strangers in their swimsuits of course. Lol.
@HornyBBW7233 There were no scantily clad people on my honeymoon in rainy Scotland!
@spunkycumfun No, but there were chances of men in kilts (possibly free balling). Couldn't that count?
@HornyBBW7233 My wife would have liked that!
Spent 20 years living with my partner but a marriage ceremony was never something I considered.
My father tried to do the traditional thing by taking me to a shop when I was not yet 18 so I could choose what would have been my future "wedding" gold jewelry, but I would have none of it. I think that is when I vowed to never get married.
Actually the idea of being a bride and going through a wedding day horrified me from as way back as I can remember myself. The hair, the makeup, the dress. None of that is me. The dress especially.
Weddings are very stressful to plan and to go through. I could only relax after I finished my groom's speech.
Married my college girlfriend from the 80's but we didn't get married until we reconnected in the 90's. A large wedding shrunk quickly from about 200 to 35 when I was sent to England for a job that was supposed to last a few weeks. Turned into 13 months. Decided not to wait so git married there. The laws had just changed and we were the 2nd couple to get married at a little place in maidenhead called monkey island. Family flew over and stayed with us. Paid for it with per diem and it was a blast. Weren't able to honeymoon for about 5 months due to the job. We went on a cruise and enjoyed it tremendously. Last time I was in England I drove out to see the place and it has updated a bit but not too much to ruin it's charm.
Thanks for recounting your wedding experience. I've never been to Maidenhead.
@spunkycumfun it's on the thames
Never had a wedding. Bought a house instead.
Smart move!
I miss the young, strong woman I was back in the dark ages. She was a cheeky minx
Hugs!!
There's still time to reclaim her.
Gee, when you said black n white wedding I thought you meant you used the wrong hole. Well some might say it was the wrong one
No, it was literally a black and white wedding, well as far as possible!
That last shot looks like my wedding night too!
See I can do Happy HN-C's as well.
It's good to cheat at HNW, particularly when the HNW leader allows cheating!
@spunkycumfun I wanna cheat WITH the HNW leader.
@CleavageFan4U I think the HNW leader, @JN63JPN, is too ethical to cheat!
@spunkycumfun DANG IT!!
I am stuck on the soundtrack you had for the wedding. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" on pipe organ is something I would love to hear!
My friend, a talented musician, did an excellent job. Unfortunately there was recording.
What an interesting first wedding you had there. But it sounds like everyone had a great time.
As for my first wedding it was at the Chapel Of The Bells in Reno, Nevada. ( Wish I hadn't of done that one!!)
This marriage we got married at the Court House with my children there as my oldest daughter was standing next to me at the altar. It was quick and easy and then we went home and popped open a bottle of champagne.
The eighties I was married to my first husband which I wish I hadn't done. The only thing good that came out of that marriage was my kids.
I hope you continue to enjoy a very happy hump day my friend..
The wedding reception was a very drunken affair as we had a free bar!
What a fun and witty post! 🙂
In my case, I got married in 1983, and for my husband and me the wedding was little more than a social formality. A civil ceremony, of course… and we slipped away from the reception at five in the afternoon. Still, we made sure there was plenty of cava and brandy so our guests could carry on celebrating quite happily without missing us.
Our honeymoon lasted exactly four days… my husband was a devoted workaholic back then. 😌 And yet… against all statistical odds: I adore him.
Years later, in 2002, I found myself as “dama de honor” at the wedding of some Dutch friends on the Costa Blanca. By dessert time, the bride and her bridesmaids, me among them, were posing naked for photographs and dancing… very cheerfully, with the groom and the guests. Proof, if any were needed,that weddings can be either brief and sober… or memorably inventive. 😄
And some people still insist the Dutch are boring! LOL!
If you haven't, you should share those pix! Nothing I love more, than seeing people having a great time!
