Just to clarify - this post is about BJ the person, not bj the action. So, if you are expecting a titillating sex story, you are doomed to disappointment. Sorry (not).
Most of this weekend was spent cavorting on the beach. Swimming, sunning, and last night, getting family pictures taken, that we didn't do after the Offspring's courthouse wedding in Oct 2022. The Lake Michigan sunset was gorgeous.
Today, I decided to be a little more refined and headed to the Sunday Strings concert at the botanical garden. A string quartet from the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra performed music by Beethoven and Debussy. Oh, and a piece from a modern composer that I've never heard of (and hope I never hear again. Very discordant)
The concert lasted an hour and I had plenty of time to enjoy the current sculpture exhibit. The theme was flight and was a complement to the release of butterflies in the conservatory in the spring. Normally, I would've seen this months ago but the butterfly crowds left me no desire to linger and then, I admit, I forgot it was there. I'm very glad that I did not let this exhibit get away.
Flight Patterns by Paul Villinski was quite interesting. He used recycled materials in all his work. The piece in the above picture was part of a full wall of birds made from vinyl records. I liked the one specific section because the full record was The Best of The Byrds. It tickled me.
More gripping, was the piece "Ghosts". Butterflies were made from aluminum cans, painted white to blend with the wall and represented butterflies that have gone extinct. All you could see were their shadows.
The second artist, Jennifer Angus (from Madison, WI) used real insects in her art. Wall decorations made from cicadas. Bell jars showing insects - mostly jewel beetles - mimicking human activities. Jelly jars filled the windows, each with its own preserved insect.
From that exhibit, I took an outdoor stroll in the English perennial garden. Fountains and flowers, birds and butterflies. That section of the outdoor garden was just enough for me in the heat.
I made one stop, on the way home, to end a perfect day.

That looks like a wonderful outing but agreed that this time of year the heat is a bit much.
Hot for me is nowhere near as hot as what you deal with! You might have found low 80s to be pleasant.
@superbjversion2 depends on humidity but I pretty much hide in ac this time of year.
Highbrow BJ....love it....glad the ice cream didn't melt considering it came from Mackinaw Island....
Only the fudge came from Mackinaw Island. The flavor is from a local company, Hudsonville Ice Cream. And it did melt quickly. I had to lick fast to catch all the drips!

Sounds like a very good day overall. I too would have been tickled seeing the the record "The Best Of The Byrds" with the birds of old vinyl. Yes, BJ I am sure you can do High Brow very well but not for long stints. You will never be stuffy enough. I would add though that are are will always be very classy. The cone looks like it is delicious and a very good end to a good day.

I mentioned that Jennifer Angus is a local Madison artist ... in case you've heard of her or would like to see other works. I couldn't do her exhibit justice. The bell jars had too much reflection for good pics.

I would have lingered longer in the outdoor garden if it had been a tad cooler but then I might've skipped the ice cream. Worked out well as is.

It was melting fast, so it was eaten fast. I didn't lose a single drip.

The hardest part of the day was keeping my shoes on and my feet out of the fountain.

I don't indulge in ice cream very often. You are probably one of the few people that would understand me when I say Mackinaw Island Fudge is the best fudge.
The gardens are lovely. And the ice cream is a necessary treat!

That sounds like my type of weekend! The beach, classical music, art exhibit, AND ice cream! When I give myself the occasional stay-cation, it usually involves a few of those on the same day.
It was a really good weekend ... even for me. I'm don't think sex would have improved it any.

Hmm... quite the eclectic adventure. Both artists had unique styles to share. It sounded and looked like a perfect weekend. And what can I say about that ice cream? Except it looks worthy. 🤗
