Life is full of valleys and peaks. I’ve had my share, but all in all I’ve lived a rich one. Although I had regrets, they’ve been few. But in the time I’ve have had: I’ve enjoyed the newfound warmth of a Helsinki spring as I made love to a woman as she whispered Russian in my ear knowing that I would only love her that one time; I’ve lusted over a drag queen and mishandled her advances as I repressed my feelings in the light of what I thought my feelings should be; I’ve felt the comfort of committed love making in a marriage that did not survive; I’ve found myself in the bed of the boy, that came out to me and kissed me without my resistance, and enjoy it when he took me in his mouth and I came as he worked his magic. And even in the afterglow of his loving and the desire to love him back, my fear would best my desire and I would reject and hurt the boy. I’ve watch the sunset over Puget Sound from the balcony of an inn as I dined with my lover wanting more than she willing to give. The journey is not done and more exploration is still to come. But a journey is much better when it’s done with a partner.
